“Impressive ancient remains”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

Very interesting insight into Roman Barcelona. There are an impressive range of (largely industrial) ruins under the modern city, which are well excavated, well-lit, and well-explained, helped in no small part by the free audio tour included with the entrance price, which was reasonable in itself. Lovely location in the old town; further wanderings in the city reveal more Roman remains which hold the museum displays further together. All in all, highly recommended- you don't have to go to Pompeii for impressive Roman remains!

“History below street level”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2013

Discover the cities origins below street level. Excavations of a Roman settlement and the foundations of the first episcopal palaces can be seen. A to the point audio guide leads you through this nice museum. Well worth a visit if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the Old Town.

“Must See”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2013

One of my highlights of our stay in Barcelona. I have not seen many ancient cities before and it was great to take a step back in time and see something really old. I would recommend if for anyone taking a trip to the city.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

I had heard about this museum from a friend and found it on line. It is well worth the visit, particularly if you are interested in Roman history. The ruins of Barcino, which is the original city, are in the basement level and you can walk through them on a series of catwalks. The audio self-guide is excellent. This museum is just around the corner from the old cathedral and not too far from Musee Picasso.
