Owner description: La Macarena is one of the most prestigious clubs in Barcelona. Located next to Las Ramblas, in the heart of the city. Characterized by its powerful sound, careful interior design, quality of invited artists and its warm & cosmopolitan ambiance. The daily DJ lineup features the best record labels, renowned international artists and new talents. La Macarena is the ideal place to take the pulse of the city scene. History: La Macarena was an antic "tablao flamenco" from the twenties of last century, with roots sank through times. Refurbished during 2001 to host the ultimate tendencies of advanced e-music.

After trawling some truly awful places on a Sunday night in Barcelona, myself and a group of friends were about to call it a night at around 2am.

On the way back to the hotel we were approached by shifty looking bloke in a tiny alley trying to convince us to go to his club. He was hanging around with a few equally shifty looking gentleman selling beer and weed.

We decided why not, bought a beer and some weed and proceeded to follow the guy down an alley and then another, feared we'd get murdered, but eventually turned up at a doorway with a guy who let us in one door, where we had to wait in a pitch black room until someone opened another door in front, where we were greeted with top top quality house music, a friendly crowd and a sweet little nightclub that kept us going til about 6am.

Thoroughly recommend to Barcelona... I'll definitely go back

Do not go to La Macarena, the place is tiny, the music system is horrible but the worse part is the staff! I saw the bouncer pig a fight twice, once even with a girl and the entire street started fighting with the bouncer, it was absolutly horrible! This place is dangerous!!

Great music with a Function One sound system and a great feel to the place only downside is the place smells strongly of the toilets. But recomended wednesday nights a 5 hour dj set from a big name dj every week

The sound system here is second to none and the cylindrical shape of the place ensures that music, (techno, minimal, house) is injected straight into your ear drums at mega decibels. Home to a firm following of music lovers and practitioners Macarena, tiny as it is, packs a punch way above its wight and competes with the bigger European venues on the dance music circuit.

great sound system, avarage prices. Every wednesday the line up is made up by one dj, with a 5 hours set and people as Delano Smith and Alex Niggemann came there to play their music! Even tho it might be empty till 3am (people are still at the bar), it gets full almost every night, so i always end up there with my friends during the week, when other places are empty or full but with orrible music! Drinks are pricy as every club in Barcelona. 9 euro for the "cubata" and 5 for the bottle of beer! I don't believe the "huge doorman" was so bad with that girl. They are usually fine
