“Highly impressed, ticked all the boxes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2013

I spent several days looking for the right hotel, looking for a hotel the had good transport links with both the airport and local metro links etc, also was in a central location with good links to transport & attractions etc, also one that had rooms catering for families and finally reasonably priced, hence it took several days to find the right hotel.

Well not only I am glad I found the Hotel Azul, I would highly recommend it to any one else, the hotel ticks all the boxes I was looking for.

It is only a short walk (less than 3 minutes) from Plaza Espanya, the Plaza Espanya has a number of plus points, it is the first major stop on the Aerobus bus from BCN, it is a major metro/bus interchange link, it also has a number of tourist attractions with walking distance
The hotel itself is situated on a main road, however most of the rooms are situated along the side street, we had no problems with noise at all, (3rd floor, room 34), the room it self was very spacious (something often missing in family rooms), the room it self consisted of 2 floors, with a Kitchenette (including fridge) lounge area, then a double sofa bed along with a single sofa bed and LCD TV, upstairs we had the bathroom(including bath/shower) with wardrobe storage and a double bed, along with LCD TV hung on the wall, only one slight gripe the only British TV channel was BBC world service news (never thought I’d miss sky news so much) with air con & with complimentary wifi in the room

A nice touch by the hotel to have free cold water in the fridge for when we arrived
As a number of other reviews have mentioned, there’s a great Chinese restaurant/bar next door, also there are a number of cafeteria’s and patisseries either side of the hotel, as we used these I can also vouch for them.

We found the staff on reception very helpful at all times, the hotel itself was absolutely great for our stay, as mentioned earlier very central and accessible for all transport links
Would highly recommend this hotel to others visiting Barcelona

we stayed here 7-10.July.2013

We checked in after our cruise for a one night stay and a very early flight the next morning. Rooms weren't ready because we showed upset 9:00am but the VERY nice front desk person stored our bags for us and we went and jumped on the hoho bus and came back around 3:00 when the room were ready. The hotel was clean and quiet. We had a triple and had plenty of space to move around. The hotel has free wifi which is always nice. Bathrooms were very clean stocked with towels. Overall, I think this hotel is underrated, it's location to the city center is very close (placa de Espanya). I would stay here again without hesitation. A nice ending to a great vacation.

Room Tip: We we on the 3rd floor. No problems.

Hotel Azul was a very nice place to visit for a family of 4 adults. We shared a room, which had 4 separate single beds which were somewhat "bouncy" and soft. As a family that speaks little Spanish, the attendants at the front desk were wonderfully helpful.

Rooms were clean, shower hot, and the rooms had a modern decor.

After docking in Barcelona after a cruise, we went straight to the hotel who allowed us to store our luggage there and used free wifi to get orientated to the city. The breakfast is not included, and an average spread for a European hotel.

Overall I would say this establishment is a good value, and would stay here again in the future.

Stayed here from the 24th to the 26th of may. We went as a stag do party and I can't fault a thing. They're we're 15 of us in 3 rooms and it didn't feel cramped at all. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and pretty modern and well equipped. Taxis can be flagged down in the other side of the road as there cheaper as if you get one from the the hotel side, they have to go miles down the road to turn back to go towards the beach and city centre. Taxis worked out about 7 euros. Great little cafe across the road as well, great selection of food for when feeling hungover. All in all great stay.

Stayed for a long weekend and had such a good experience that will definitely stay here again when visiting Barcelona. The Hotel is so convenient for everything, is well priced and the staff are exceptional - very helpful and knowledgeable. Loved the fact that you had to be 'buzzed' into the Hotel, even though it is in a good area, which gave a sense of being protected. Lovely bar next door, run by Chinese family, with decent food at reasonable prices and there is a lovely bakery half a block away that serves great snacks - ideal for a quick breakfast (don't expect English breakfast, you are on the Continent!).

Room Tip: Only have experience of room 44 which was a triple room but could have slept more - two beds in th...

Stayed here for a long weekend in April with parents (dad's birthday treat) and had a family room (44).
The hotel had an intercom system to get into the hotel which I thought was a positive thing. The room was spacious - the main bedroom had the double bed (two singles together), the living room had the third single bed, a futon and a table and chairs. The hotel staff were excellent - they advised us about travel, trips etc - nothing was too much trouble for them. The roof terrace was a sun trap.
The breakfast is expensive in the hotel but there is a pattiserie up the road which is very good value. Next door to the hotel is a bar run by a chinese family and they are so friendly and the food in there was lovely.
The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the placia de espanya which is a major transport centre - metro, aerobus, tourist trip and local buses.
Would definitely stay there again if visiting Barcelona.

My wife and I chose this hotel for it's location within walking distance of Palau Sant Jorge (20 mins), although a bit apprehensive of traffic noise with it being on a main dual carriageway.
Our fears were unfounded. Our room (107) was down the side street, well sound-proofed, we hardly heard any noise at all. The room was spacious and clean with comfortable twin beds. A fridge with complimentary bottles of water also a nice touch, the downside we had to keep the curtains closed as it was closely overlooked by apartments across.
Lots of bars/cafes and shops nearby and within a few minutes walk the excellent Las Arenas shopping centre, which is the converted old bullring. Also Placa D'Espanya metro, train and bus hub . From the airport, it is easy to take the Aerobus €10,20 return.
All the reception staff were very pleasant and we felt really welcome and will definitely use this hotel again.
