“Very spacious and comfortable rooms”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

This was our last stop on our European trip. We stayed for 4 nights from the 6th July till the 10th July.
When I booked this hotel I read many reviews on trip advisor and the reviews that most people put up on this were spot on. Amazing hotel, area a little seedy but good priced for what you get.
The rooms were amazing - comfortable beds, lots of room for 3 people and the luggages and shopping too. One of the best accommodations we stayed in over the past 30 days travelling around Europe.
The reception staff were great spoke English really well and helped with directions when needed.
I would highly recommend this place for future visitors to Barcelona. It is literally a 5 mins walk to la rambalas. The area is a little seedy but we walked back to the hotel at 1am after a night out and we felt safe as it was well lit up around the hotel. The sercurity is good you need card access to get into the hotel even during the day. Also lift access is through the card.
The rooftop pool is amazing the views of the entire city from the rooftop is breath taking, it's beautiful.
There is a metro stop (Drassanaes) literally 3 mins from the hotel. Barcelona has one of the best metro systems I've ever been on. Always on time and reliable and super EASY to use. I recommend using this as a way to get around the city. So much cheaper than taxi's.
The hotel is also super close to the aquarium and shopping centre on the wharf (just a 10-15 mins walk). Also close ish to the beach 20mins walk.
We would stay here again in the future - reasonably priced, comfortable and close to a lot of attractions and the metro.

We had an excellent stay. Good location, clean, safe and comfortable. We arrived very late in the evening - reception staff were extremely welcoming and had us checked in within minutes. The reception staff deserve a special mention. Very friendly and helpful. They couldn't so enough for us and made booking tickets for various things easy. Rooms are very clean, airy and bright and we loved the minimalist feel. Super comfortable beds which offered a great nights sleep and it was very quiet (5th floor). We booked a triple room which was quite spacious. The only thing that could improve the stay would be a fridge in the room. We used the vending machine in reception for cold drinks daily.

I was a little concerned about some reviews questioning the safety of the area. I need not have worried. At no point did we feel unsafe even late at night. It's a good location with easy access to all areas of the city.

We had breakfast on a few occasions - it's ok, but can work out expensive. If you go out of the hotel, turn left and then left again, there is an amazing patisserie right there. Breakfast for a few euros.

The roof top pool is a bonus. We didn't think we would use it that much, but it was a welcome rest after a days sightseeing. Lovely way to relax and end the day. And what a view! Can get busy in the afternoons.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. Fantastic.

The first thing that struck us about this hotel was the welcome at reception, staffed by very friendly, attentive people. This continued throughout our stay when we always received a greeting when entering the building. The room was larger than expected at this price range and the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of hanging space in the wardrobe along with a safe, and the bathroom has everything you could need. It did get a tad slippery in there when showering however. We didn't take breakfast in the hotel, instead leaving the hotel and turning right, then left, then right again and having a very quaint continental brekkie outside a backstreet cafe apparently only frequented by locals. Very nice :-) The small pool on the roof terrace is a very nice feature and ideal for a dip after a longs day's slog. The location is perfect, just a short walk to Drassanes Metro in one direction, La Ramblas in the other. Palau Guell, well worth a visit, is less than a two minute walk. The vending machines and seating area next to reception was a bonus too, we didn't think we would use it but we did. Yes, we will definitely stay here again.

Just left the hotel this morning. We had an excellent stay. Very clean and modern with super rooms. Had a room with outside space which was just amazing, especially as we smoke. Breakfast was very good with everything you could want. Pool area on the roof top a bit small but a cosy space that were very popular with hotel guests. It has a view over the whole of Barcelona. There are no bar or restaurant, but who needs it when you are in the heart of town, but they have vending machines for drinks and ice for all to use. The reception staff were fabulous, and Alex in particular was extremely helpful and friendly and went that extra mile to please. Would never stay anywhere else if we were to come back.

We recently spent 4 days at the Andante, and the location was spot on. Several people have mentioned that it is in an undesirable area, however El Raval is very much an up and coming part of town - becoming very trendy and cosmopolitan (according to our food tour guide). It was considered the 'dodgy end' for some time but Barcelona has tried hard over the last few years to address this ,hence the cat ('el gato' to the locals) was moved here from the Olympic site. We certainly did not see any 'ladies of the night'.

If you are new to Barcelona you could be mistaken in thinking that most of it is in 'undesirable' areas due to the amount of grafitti everywhere, but it is not like in the UK where only the more run down areas exhibit this form of vandalism. In Barca it seems to be more of a form of expression than pure vandalism. In fact we saw some shop owners spraying their logo on the shop shutters.

This is our 3rd visit to Brcelona and definitely the best locale we have stayed in. (previously being H10 Marina in El Poblnou - too far away from main sites and the Europark Hotel in L'Exiample - too close to designer shopping areas for us)
Andante is 5 mins to the Gothic quarter (definitely our favourite part of Barcelona) and 5 mins to Barcelonetta and the beach. If La Rambla is your thing its 5 mins from there but I would advise have a look once out of curiosity and then explore the less touristy and more cultural areas.

As for the hotel itself, the bedrooms are lovely and bright and airy, very clean, with nice views of the city (we upgraded to a panoramic room). The shower was great .Its a shame the rooms do not have a fridge, but on the plus side we had the largest safe we have ever had in a hotel. Also worthy of a mention are the beds.....we slept like babies.....very comfortable indeed, and the bedding was soooo soft!

Like most hotels these days, they are big on the eco friendly bit - which has its disadvantages! The bathroom has too few lights (ladies you will need to do your make up in the bedroom wardrobe mirror using the natural light from the large windows). The corridors are farcically dark, you practically need a guide dog to get from your room to the lift. Also part of the eco - friendly annoyance was the time it took for the air con to drop to your selected temperature. We left a card key in the slot when we went out so that the room would have time to cool down while we were away (I think the maids turn the temp up)

The roof pool is typical of all Barcelona hotels - small and shallow but a nice place to chill out. The views from there are lovely (same as your room if on a higher floor - but easier to take photos as you cannot open the windows wide enough in your room to get your camera out there)

We did not have breakfast at the hotel as we prefer to find local restaurants and experience Barcelona to its fullest (see my other reviews if you'd like some ideas). There is a vending machine in the lobby if you need some bottled water or a snack or a cup of tea/coffee.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a smart, affordable, hotel within easy walking dustance of everything you'd want to see

Room Tip: High floor with panoramic windows

Andante is a lovely hotel from the moment you walk in the door. Totally modern and clean, the lobby and rooms are so very comfortable. I often shy away from modern in favor of older and cozier but somehow, the modern feel made it very serene. The bed was super comfortable with clean crisp sheets (LOVE that!). The rooms are amazingly soundproof. There is music piped into the hallways but you don't hear a thing once your room door is closed. The staff was nice and very businesslike but helpful. The location is great--we walked everywhere. It feels very secure in this big busy city. Breakfast is served in a clean modern space off of the lobby....a really nice breakfast buffet. There is a beautiful courtyard with comfy outdoor sofas. A rooftop pool, good for soaking but not really swimming (too shallow) has an amazing view. There are even bikes available, although we didn't use that option. I would love to stay in this hotel again.
