Hotel is located in an old building and therefor very spartanic with small rooms, but the place where it is located is ideal for walking around in the city center, especially the gotic quarter - and this is compensating every other deficits more than!!!

In Placa Reail - just off Las Rambla which is awesome. The city really is alive and perfect spot to explore in all different directions (Beach / Gothic Qtr / Catalunya)... Close to Liceu Metro as well ...

The breakfast is OK, not great but for free, I wouldn't complain.

Our double room was two single beds pushed together - not such a bad thing for us as I was sick and my partner didn't want to get sick!

Bathroom was small but clean enough. Shower was hot. TV worked, barely, and had no remote but you don't stay in Barca's centre to watch TV!

Easy to get meals nearby, although the cheap options serve minuscule proportions and some of the expensive options aren't worth the money.

We stayed 4 nights, and had some loud neighbours which is no fault of the hotels. Would stay here again, or at least in this area as it served it's purpose for us...

We spent three nights in the hotel and would choose it again in case of a next visit in Barcelona. The location is really superb, underground stations are rally close as well as a lot of interesting places in the town. Not always neccessary to use transport, but walking is also possible to reach the beach, Aquarium, Parc de la Ciutadella, Arc de Triompf, etc.
The staff is really friendy and helpful. The room could have been better with a square-looking, but since we really didn't spend much time there (mainly sleeping) it wasn't really a problem for us. (I've heared someone got a room without any window, this is to be avoided...) The room was absolutely clean and the daily room service was excellent. Breakfast contained mainly sweet sortiment, but was also ok for a short period. If you need anything to buy, there are a numerous of food possibilities within 2-3 minutes walk.

Room Tip: Ask for a room looking to the square, avoid rooms without windows.

We have stayed in Roma Reial for 8 nights this month - two adults and a kid of 9 y/o.
Have asked a room with view on the square by email prior to visit, but when we were cheking-in -there wasn't any room with the view available for us. We had to move into a room looking inside a small airless shaft - not a very good experience )).
But the other morning we kindly asked on reception to move us and staff was very helpful and arranged our move to a bigger room looking at the square. It was a totally different story! No serious noise that could spoil our sleep at nights at all!
Breakfast is small, but ok for the morning, we couldn't eat more anyways.
Rooms are simple, but clean, and room service is every day with making up beds and changing towels.
Staff was very very friendly and helpful with guides of interesting places to visit.
Best vicinity ever - Gottic quater, Rambla, numeruos bars, restaurants, shops and clubs. No need to go far away from a place of stay, everything you need for entertaiment and good food is at a stone's throw! )
As to the sea, a walk to the beaches at Barceloneta took us abt 30-40 min.

So - a great place for a good value, I will definately keep in mind this hotel for my next visits to Barcelona.

Room Tip: make sure you book a room with remark "view on the square", otherwise you'll miss the...

It's not luxury category but it's more than enought for the city trip! The location is superb, the staff is helpful and so friendly! Our room is looking to the square, but if the door is closed, the noise was minimal. Beside, the view is so good. People came to visit the Placa Reial, when you can see it from the own balcony! We're here at the end of April then the temperature is absolutely comfortable. In the middle of summer may be the air-con should be needed! For at all, we definitely recommend this hotel for every one!

Room Tip: Ask for the room with view to the Placa Reial!

Very basic hotel for basic needs. We were a party of 10 women and had the use of 3 rooms. All very clean and the reception staff were very helpful and even assisted with our bookings. We were on the third floor which is up a lot of stairs however there is a lift available. One of our rooms faced the square but there was no noise issues as other reviews have mentioned.
The rooms consisted of 3 or 4 single beds and a bathroom. My only issue with our room was the lack of plug sockets. There was one high up on the wall for the tv and another in the bathroom so we all had to take in turns with phone/camera chargers and hair dryer/straighteners.

I do NOT recommend the Roma Reial Restaurant. Apparently it is not part of the hotel chain however has the same name ...the food was awful and the staff rude (although this could have been a language barrier or difference in cultures customer service). The staffs answers to the bad food was that there was nothing they could do as the chefs didn't care and as it was a tourist only restaurant in a busy area, even if customers didn't return, they would still have a full restaurant the next day with new tourists! So if you visit the hotel, venture out for tea and find somewhere the locals eat.

Also beware the beggars. They are very persistent in trying to sell roses/tacky toys. They don't care if they've approached you before and you've told them to sod off, they will return! Also by the beach on an evening, lots of men hanging around trying to sell you cans of beer, very scary but luckily we were a large group. Hold your bags close to you!

I would stay here again for another short break, not somewhere I could spend a week. We did 3 nights and that was just enough. Great city, I recommend you visit the zoo, ice bar, cathedral and hard rock cafe. Make sure you book tickets/reserve seats to everything you do as queues were hours long. The cathedral queue was almost around the entire building but as we had tickets we didn't wait for more than 5 minutes. We missed out on the park however as we didn't realise you needed tickets for this.

Room Tip: Third floor - no noise heard from down stairs.

Our family has had 2 nights at this hotel, the rooms were clean and tidy though a little dated ,the staff very helpful and willing to assist. The only problems that could do with sorting out would be to get new mattresses as the ones in the family room all five single beds had divots in them and were past their best .Also the breakfast consisted of either a cereal ,yoghurt and a mixture of rolls with either butter or marmalade,a few slices of cheese and meat wouldn't have gone amiss. Our room was facing onto the square and was a lovely view but you need to be a heavy sleeper as its very noisy at night. The hotel location is fantastic,if you want a cheap budget hotel this is ideal ,we had an enjoyable stay though a little tired .

Room Tip: Rooms facing onto the square very noisy at night and also early morning due to street cleaning ( 6am...
