We travel to Barcelona very regularly and have stayed at this hotel on a few occasions and have always meant to leave a review but the level of service we received this weekend on our stay here made us feel we just had to share our experience.

We had a very early flight out of Dublin and arrived very much before our check in time, this was no problem for Georgina at reception, and her pleasant friendly manner is such an asset to this hotel. Not only did she check us in straight away but she also facilitated our request for a late check out.

The following day when we needed to print off our boarding passes, Georgina again could not have been more helpful; she allowed us to use the hotel computer and even helped with our translation difficulties.

This is a lovely hotel with bright clean rooms in an excellent position with easy accessibility to the airport via taxi or the airport bus. The main train station is only a few minutes’ walk. The metro station in only across the road so getting around the city could not be easier.

As with most service industries it’s the people who make the company and in this instance this is definitely true, Georgina at reception is without fail one of the nicest most helpful members of staff in any hotel we have stayed in and we are already looking forward to our next stay in January.

We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

We spent four nights at the Vilamari, the staff were courtious but there seemed no communication between them. On arrival we gave credit card details, when we needed to use the telephone we could not as they didn't have our credit card details! We informed them that we had an airport shuttle at eight in the morning, breakfast not starting until eight and arranged coffee and croissants, nobody informed the next shift, nothing organized. The maintenance needed improving,sink with broken plunger, flashing table lamp. Such a pity as this hotel has all the basics to be a very good one.

Room Tip: Inspect the room carefully and discard if not up to standard.

Thank you for your comments. We apologize about the phone. We always ask for a credit card details but after that it could be a problem with the computer and the details were gone. But if you needed to contact the transfer company we would be happy to help you.
Breakfast is from 7 to 11h week days and from 8 to 12h weekend and public holidays. We would like to offer coffea before that but there is no staff working 24 hours.

My husband and I stayed here in May 2013.

Location: It took us about 20 minutes by taxi to get there from the airport. It is about 2 blocks away from Placa D'Espanya and a large shopping mall. Directly across from the shopping mall is a ticket booth for the hop on hop off tours and several of their bus stops which was very convenient. There are restaurants and bakeries all around the hotel.

Room: Very very small rooms. The bathrooms was nice but small as well. The typical European style shower with half a clear glass door covering the tub. It is impossible not to flood the floor. Always cleaned well. The only issue we had with the room was how thin the walls were. I could hear our neighbors conversation and for a light sleeper, this was terrible.

Breakfast: Very expensive compared to the authentic Spanish breakfast you can get around the corner. We asked if we could just have coffee and were charged like 6 Euros for one small cup :( Lesson learned and for the next three mornings ate elsewhere.

Service: Upon arrival I had mentioned that I wanted to se about getting the room rate that was available for guests that were going on a cruise which we were. With that cam a complimentary bottle of champagne. They said that it would be in our room by the end of the day. It was not so the next morning we called and after returning late in the afternoon it was there. It was not a problem. They were very busy during our stay but always answered the questions we had about the area with a smile.

All in all, a solid average hotel in a good location.

There is another comment, I know, just to recognize a positive change. Personal working in the hotel are PERFECT. Also the kitchen quality, is the first time I use (just a comment: very small dishes choices if you decide to stay several days). The problem with the showers seems repaired (many thanks!)

My wife and I and two family members stayed in this hotels for 2 nights before we go on the cruise,the rooms are a bit tiny according to the american style,( most of the european hotel rooms are about the same size)but if you only want a place to sleep while on vaccation,this hotel is just about right,it's clean,quite, the price is very reasonable,and located in the cental of everything(it's like the time square of NYC).If we have a chance to visit Barcelona again(which I think we will),we will use the same hotel again.I also like to thank Susana(the front desk lady),for her friendly smile and help.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the rear are quieter.
