“Great hospitality!”

Pro:
Good location! Not in part of town that's TOO busy, but close enough to the action to make short trips by foot or metro.

The staff is unbelievably nice! Seriously. Some chain hotels need to take a lesson from Steve and his staff.

The place is a cool boutique style guesthouse with modern amenities including an iMac for use and a killer terrace with 3 hammocks for your own personal afternoon siesta!

If they keep prices affordable, I'll be back. No doubt.

if you are on a budget in barcelona, consider zoorooms, in a great location near some of the main sights, the gaudi buildings on passeig de gracia, minutes away, easy reach of placa catalunya, regarded as the centre of the city. my wife & i stayed in a double room over looking carrer mallorca which is a busy road, however had no trouble sleeping, although we were offered ear plugs!! steve our hoste met us at reception, gave us a tour of the facilities , gave us a map & made numerous suggestions on places to eat, drink & see sights, very good recommendations too! our room was simply decorated, was clean & had a nice bathroom with lovely rainfall shower, just needed to run water for a while to get hot water, no problem!, the kitchen was modern , spotless & well equipped . the terrace is very large, complete with comfy seats & hammocks . really enjoyed our stay & would'nt hesitate to recommend.

I recently stayed in the Zoo Rooms and although I don't usually write reviews, I feel that this 'hidden gem' definitely warrents a review... The beautifully restored guesthouse is situated only meters from Passeig de Gràcia and minutes from Las Ramblas. I felt I was very close to my base as I explored the incredible sights and soaked in all of Barcelona's beauty. The house has been restored to perfection, the rooms are spacious with great high ceilings. The staff are incredibly helpful, we even got mini tour from the owner, Steve! The tranquility of the internal terrace is also perfect for some quiet downtime. Whether you are going for pleasure or business, this guesthouse is perfect and at such reasonable prices. I'm looking forward to going back already!

Fantastic interiors. The rooms and everything else really look like what is shown in the pictures. Even though our rooms faced the street side, we slept tight - maybe also due to the fact that the beds were very, very comfy (no exaggeration!). The hostel couldn't be more central. All the sights are within walking distance. We hardly ever used the metro/bus. As a matter of fact you just have to walk down the street to see the stunning Sagrada familia. It takes about 20 minutes.
If you are in a hurry in the morning and you don't have enough time to fix a breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen of the hostel then you can go to that nice little place on the corner of the street to have your breakfast there ("Cafeteria Eixample"). They don't charge you tourist prices - which makes it an affordable alternative!
But what we liked and valued most was the nice atmosphere in the hostel. The staff was very attentive and gave us lots of tips as to where to find/do things. We also exchanged impressions and infos with the other guests. Internet connection worked very well - which was important for our teenage son. Unfortunatly it was a little too cold (18-20°) to make full use of the terrace with its hammocks, lounge area and BBQ. But this is for next time, because we we want to come back to Barcelona and Zoorooms.

I've been visiting Barcelona for over 20 years and have stayed in various parts of the city but the Zoorooms location in the heart of the Eixample is definitely my favourite. Only a few blocks from Passeig de Gràcia it is within easy walking distance of Placa Catalunya, Las Ramblas, Gothic Quarter etc. The guesthouse is just newly renovated but many of the original features of the building have been really well preserved. My room had original french doors which led to a huge terrace.... complete with hammocks and a barbecue. The best I've seen in Barcelona!! The room and en suite bathroom was nice and big and really well finished. There is also a great shared living area with a cool mural and fabric jellyfish lamps! The kitchen was really modern and spotlessly clean which made a nice change from some other places.
This place is much better value for money than I've found elsewhere in BCN and the guys working there were really helpful. Definitely plan to be staying here again.

Stayed here in December 2012 for a pre-Christmas break. Barcelona was very pleasant even at this time of year especially coming from the UK where the temp was freezing! The location was perfect and Eixample has everything you need. Sagrada Familia is a 'must' on the check list of places to visit as well as Baracelona Cathedral. Totally amazing!
The rooms within the guesthouse were very generous in size and very comfortable, had the best night sleep. The shower/bathroom was excellent and top spec.
As we opted for the room with garden/courtyard view, it was extremely quiet and I wish it was just a little warmer outside to make use of the hammock and sit outside as the design of the garden was very contemporary style and looked really good. Not sure if the road side rooms would be as peaceful but I guess this is reflected in the price of the room.
Kitchen facilities were absolutely perfect as there was literally everything you need and absolutely spotless as the cleaning lady would come in every day.
Reception guys were very helpful and knowledgeable and I think have done a fantastic job.
Overall excellent value for a very reasonable price. Thanks

Fantastic venue for our getaway. It was incredible value for money which meant that we were able to spend more on exploring the wonders of the city. Our room was spacious, clean and provided the perfect environment to rest after a long day exploring the city. The location in Eixample was great as it was far enough away from the busy tourist areas of the Ramblas, but walking distance to all that Barcelona had to offer, with good transport by train and bus nearby. Staff were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We couldn't recommend this stylish, affordable and charming guesthouse anymore - it really made our holiday perfect!
