“wonderful stay”
Reviewed 19 May 2009

My daughter and I stayed at the Acta Atrium Palace Hotel 6 days in May. First, the hotel location was excellent. Right in between the new and old sections of the city. 1/2 block from Metro. Very close to Placa Catalunya. Staff professional, courteous, and helpful when asked. Room was modern, updated, and clean. Bathroom had tub and shower and sink. Also, outside in a little alcove was another sink which we found helpful in the morning. Bathrobe and slippers provided. Excellent toiletriees. We had a room with a huge balcony overlooking the Gran Via. It was very nice but sitting out on the patio was a little noisey due to the traffic. Inside of room very soundproof, no traffic noise heard. Breakfast buffett was enjoyable and sufficient--bacon, eggs, potatoes, rolls, croissants, fruit, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, coffee, and juices. We did not use the minbar, but the prices were very reasonable. Also forgot to mention the in room safe, which was a plus.

DAughters luggage did not arrive in Barcelona with her and the staff was helpful in calling the airline and interpreting for us and the next day, the bag was placed in our room. We did not use the spa area, but it appeared nice and clean. Hotel also had internet services which we did not use. We enjoyed our stay here and would have no problem staying here again. One other thing. Approximately 10 days before we arrived, I received a nice email from the hotel about our reservations and alot of suggested sites to visit which was very helpful.

We stayed for four nights at the start of April. Front facing room on the second floor had significant road noise, manageable with ear plugs, small balcony a nice touch.
Good size room, free wireless internet a bonus.
Excellent location, easy walk with luggage to/from airport bus, the Ramblas, the shops and restaurants of the Passeig de Gracia.
Recommend the hop on/hop off bus for a comprehensive tour of all the city has to offer (we bought the two day pass and covered all three routes)

We stayed here for a week at the end of march , lovely hotel spotlessly clean with v helpful staff. Breakfast is expensive but not if you book the inclusive deal in advance. Possible to have a ten course breakfast if you want. Spa facilities are small but very pleasant . The road at the front is very busy but the triple glazing is totally effective and keeps out any noise.Would highly recomend this hotel.

We stayed for three nights at the end of a 3 week tour and this hotel is at the top for recommendations to friends. Our room was really big for european standards, but was in the back near the school, which meant the day always started with loud kids playing outside. That was okay for us since we were up early to sightsee anyhow. The bathroom was also large, and we had a minifridge in the room. From the hotel we were able to walk to La Rambles, the old Roman quarter, and even to Sagrada Familia (though that's a bit far). Hotel is on a tree-lined off shoot of a main road loaded with restaurants. Conceirge was great with recommendations, getting up complimentary umbrellas when it was raining, calling cabs and pointing out things on a map. Added bonus of free computer and internet usage in a business lounge. Has a pool and hot tub in the lowest level (basement) -no windows, darker and small, but relaxing.

Stayed from 18 March for 3 days before a cruise. Excellent hotel which we booked on the strength of recent reviews in TA.
Great central location close to shopping, las ramblas and good restaurants. Our room was at the rear of the hotel and overlooked a school complex - nice and quiet.
My tip would be to avoid an early breakfast as during our stay a large number of business customers occupied the tables.- any time after 9 15 and there were plenty of tables. Reception staff were very helpful with maps and recommendations. Cant understand why this hotel is not closer to the top of TA ratings. Will definiteluy book again.

Our room was great and clean and quiet. Not far from the Les Rambles, The Market, and the trolley stop with a great route to see a large portion of the city. The staff was very helpful and recommended great places for dinner.

Was extremely happy with this hotel from the minute we walked in to the minute we left. its the perfect location - just away from the business of las ramblas, yet just a stones throw away. the hotel is spotless, cosy and has everything you need (including little cafe). The staff at reception are very friendly and help you with anything you need. the bedrooms are spacious, and extremely comfy - they provide you with everything - soaps, shampoos, toothpaste/brush/ shoe shine, shower caps, combs, tissues, razor/shave gel, slippers and fluffy robes. We had a front facing bedroom facing the busy road but heard nothing of traffic at all. The pool and jazuzzi is on floor -1 and is is a haven of relaxation - I went down each morning before heading for breakfast and it was pure heaven. The ambience there is fab with soft coloured lighting to sooth. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, but we ate in the cafe next door a couple of times (just coffe and crossoint). We did have a couple of mixed drinks on our first night which came to 18 Euro for two drinks which we though was a bit steep. This would be our only complaint.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to couples, families or business travellers - its the height of professionalism and everything you would expect in a hotel.

Thanks Atrium for making our break so enjoyable.
