“Ideal location”
Reviewed 18 May 2012

Pros:
- I don't think the location could be any better
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Wifi worked very well

Cons:
- 1 person rooms have no view
- Quite a small room (enough for me though)
- The elevator must be the slowest in Europe. It's practically unusable
- Breakfast was very simple

Even though there are some cons, I liked the hotel and would consider staying there again.

Three words to describe an accommodation that cant get more central in the city of Barcelona - Budget, Budget, Budget. I would not say that the hotel is cheap but considering its location I could not find a better deal. The next time I go to Barcelona I would not bother so close to the center since public transport is so efficient in the city. The staff were very friendly and courteous and were awake round the clock. The room is really really small but the bathroom was comparatively spacious. The room was cleaned and towels replaced daily. The breakfast is 8 euros but when you stay so close to La Ramblas why would one eat at the hotel. The walls do not protect against noise but when you are awake all night clubbing you hardly notice. If you are a solo traveler then this place is ok but if you are with your family then I would not recommend this place.

The hotel was very easy to get to from the airport. I took the Aerobus to Placa Catalunya and the hotel was diagonally across the square.
Check in was no problem and the staff were polite and efficient. As I was only there overnight and leaving early morning, I settled the bill there and then. It was exactly as the easytobook.com invoice with no unpleasant surprises.
I had booked a single room which was facing the inner courtyard as were all the single rooms. The room was quite small with a small double bed, bedside unit, built-in cupboard and tv on stand. It had a frosted glass window which opened and a modern ensuite bathroom. It was all very clean and there were nice little touches like toiletries and a comb in the ensuite, but unfortunately there was a distinct unpleasant smell of drains. As I didnt go in any of the other rooms, I dont know if that was confined to just my room or others on that side of the hotel as well. The only other problem I had during my stay was a few interruptions during the night with people coming in at all hours and making a racket in the corridor - it wasnt the most peaceful night's sleep by any means. I didnt sample the breakfast as I left before the restaurant opened so cant comment on that.
However, as has been said in many reviews, the main redeeming feature of the hotel is the location. You really cannot get much better. There are buses and metro trains from Placa Catalunya to virtually all parts of the city and main attractions, the top of Las Ramblas is right outside the door and it is a short stroll to many superb restaurants.
So in a nutshell, this hotel is exactly as it says it is: a clean, well run, fairly basic two-star hotel in an excellent location and for the price is perfectly adequate for one or two nights as a stop-over. If that is what you are after I would recommend it, but not if you are planning a family holiday or a romantic weekend for two.

We arrived at the hotel, surprised to find the reception at the back of a watch shop, but never the less, the reception staff were very helpful, spoke english, and showed us the sights to see. The rooms were basic, breakfast was great value, and the location was superb.
We were on the 4th floor, at the front overlooking the Placa de la Catalunya. La Rambla was adjacent to the hotel. Walking along the Placa ge Gracia and sitting in the Placa de Catalunya made our holiday in Barcalona. I would recommend this to others.

The location was great. It was right beside a subway station, Plaza Catalunya and right beside La Rambla. You can walk along this famous street of Barcelona and be always close to you hotel. The breakfast was not that good but the price of the hotel per room was excellent.

The Hotel offer a discount for the Hop on/Hop off buses in Barcelona which is totally worth it. With these buses you can discover all Barcelona.

Room Tip: Recommended for anyone who wants to discover Barcelona on a budget

We got a last minute deal here just for one night before Christmas (travelling through Barcelona to final destination) Hit the jackpot by having a front view over Plaza Catalunya.
It's a basic hotel, no denying that, but the staff were great, it was clean and the location could't be better. Some noise from the street below......well, it is the start of Las Ramblas !!
Will definately go again.
