“Great location, nice rooms”
Reviewed 6 January 2010

The Hotel is minutes away from the metro in a good part of Barcelona. The rooms were comfortable, although a bit hard to find. The suites are in a totally different building on a different street, but secluded with an apartment like feel. The breakfast was not anything special, but the staff was friendly.

My wife and I booked a room for 2 nights just after Christmas after reading a great review in The Times of London Travel magazine. We were put in the handicapped room on the first floor. It was directly next to the kitchen staff doors. We were woken up at 1:30 in the morning with doors slamming and loud talking by the staff. This persisted and I went to the front desk to complain. Nothing could be done. Then the trash from the restaurant was being taken out at almost 2 in the morning directly under our room and outside the window. We could not sleep at all. We decided to leave the hotel in the middle of the night as this was insane. The front staff locked us in until I paid the bill for the night. We paid and went out find a hotel at 2 in the morning. This ruined our trip entirely. I have written to the hotel about this experience and no response 5 days later. Nothing. The worst thing is that this is where they put people who may have a handicap - that's terrible. We were able to pack our bags and leave, but not everybody can do that, especially in a wheelchair. Shame on them. This was the worst hotel experience anywhere in the world, ever. Do not give them your business.

We found this as a favorite hotel in the lonely planet book. It met all of our expections. It was centrally located near the Jaume 1 station and very close to the restaurants and the Ramblas. The rooms are spacious and with all ameneties expected including a nice toiletry kit. The rooms towrd the street can be a bit noisy but after a long day we fell asleep in our very comfotable beds. The rooms we stayed in only had steps which was a bit of hassle for our luggage and my 75 year old mother in law. All in a ll a great experience.

Great small hotel, lovely room, good restaurant and close to some great shops, bars and restaurants. A 10 minute walk from the Ramblas and other touristy areas.

This hotel has a lot going for it – clean, comfortable rooms, nice extras – like high end toiletries and a great location. The free bottled water was a nice extra. Now we know we were in Barcelona and there would be street noise and that can be strangely pleasant – you feel like you’re part of the town you’re visiting but the walls in this hotel are so thin you hear everything and we do mean EVERYTHING that our neighbors were doing. In addition, the elevator makes a loud spaceship like noise throughout the night as people come and go. Reception was pleasant enough and there are plenty of great places to dine in the immediate area. One place that stood out was Tast – just a couple of doors down from the hotel on the right.

We were delighted to return to this gem of an hotel despite our less than complimentary review off the suites (external to the hotel). No hesitation in recommending this hotel unreservedly. Remains a great place to stay and retains all that impressed us the first time round many years ago - a rare achievement.

Great location, great staff - well done!

We stayed in the suites for 4 nights at the beginning of our honeymoon. It was great to have so much space and feel so at home - we felt we just had our own little flat in Barcelona. The suite was easily accessible and just a 2 minute walk from the main hotel and you could phone the hotel for any thing you needed. They cleaned our rooms each day and refilled our fridge with water, which was complimentary. They had wi-fi as well as computers for use. The location is perfect because you're not in the touristy hub-bub of Las Ramblas but only about 10-15 minute walk to it, if you want to see some of those sights. You're also just around the corner from one of the tourist bus stops, which was perfect for us to get oriented to the city. The staff was so helpful in getting our luggage in the room for us, they also assisted us in making reservations for dinner. The hotel is decorated in a very contemporary way and is lovely. They are also very close to the metro if you want to take it. The adorable cobblestone streets of El Born are lovely and filled with great restaurants, bars and shops. We also stayed in a regular room at the end of our trip (we took a 1 week cruise and stayed one night upon our return before flying home). The regular room was also nice but much smaller. I was glad we opted for more space for our longer stay, as we felt so at home and not cramped at all. We can't wait til our next trip to Barcelona and Banys.
