Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

Me and my girlfriend stayed here October 2013 for a long weekend. It was nice and clean, staff were friendly and helpfull. The buffet breakfast was very nice especially with the views from the restaurant. The restaurant itself was really nice and priced fairly.

Overall a good place to stay for the weekend

The Hotel is ideally situated to tour what is a great city. It's directly opposite Sants station and it is only a 15 minute walk to the Camp Nou, Arenas Barcelona and 25 to Montjuic. As it just a short walk to the bus stops for the city tour buses, touring around is easy, which makes it a great base.

The hotel room, an upgraded one, more for the view than size or furnishings was on the 22nd floor with great views from our room, and even greater ones from the restaurant. The room was big with a queen size bed that was around 8ft wide, bath, shower and glass partitioned toilet within the bathroom.

The restaurant was on the top floor where breakfast was the usual mix of pastries, cereals, yoghurts, breads with streaky bacon, eggs, local sausages and hash browns included in the hot section. Wherever you sit in the restaurant you will have a great view of the city and you can walk to the other end that is used for evenings where you can see the city centre and the famous Familia Sagrada, even if it is about 3 miles away.

The hotel is situated very close to a number of restaurants, with Arenas (the former Bullring) having a number of eateries which are all very popular. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening as we chose to have a stroll in the very warm October/November evening warm air.

We visited the Spa as one free entry is included and sat around in a very small are that has a plunge pool, sauna both dry and steam. but it is ok for a hour or so to charge up the batteries. Treatments are an option but not sure what they were or how much.

Overall a great hotel, with great staff, views, rooms and breakfast.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms for the upgrade

Myself and my wife spent three nights here for her 30th Birthday which was on the Saturday and we arrived on the Friday night, the hotel is in the heart of the city and an easy Metro, taxi, bus ride to anywhere you wish to go.
We arrived back in the Saturday evening to find a Piece of cake with a candle in it and a card for my wife saying happy birthday, We found this a very nice touch and made our trip extra special, we loved our stay and would go back in a heart beat. very clean, comfortable, friendly hotel
If you stay here you will love and appreciate Barcelona even more.

Room Tip: 20th floor or above ,what a view.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel before a couple of years ago at the end of a cruise. This time it was at the beginning of a cruise which allowed us to add a couple of pleasant days in Barcelona.

Having had a good experience last time, we were happy to book it again and we were not disappointed. The hotel was just as good. It's a big modern tower block hotel but it somehow manages to feel more intimate.

The rooms are very comfortable with great views the higher up you are. The large bathroom was well appointed and all was extremely clean.

Staff were all very helpful and friendly.

There is a panoramic restaurant up on the top floor which also serves breakfast. Downstairs on the ground floor there is a residents only bar with comfortable seating to relax in and an outside terrace.

The location is good, just across the road from the central Barcelona Sants station. You can get to and from the airport from here.

There are always cabs waiting outside but the Metro just inside Sants station was much cheaper and great for getting about town. You can buy a single Metro ticket for 10 journeys which two people can use. It just counts up the number of journeys in total. Very useful

At the end of our stay, it was a mere 15 minute cab ride down to the cruise terminal to join our ship.

All very good and we will be using Gran Hotel Torres Catalunya again without doubt

Room Tip: If you value a great view, book a room on the upper floors

We stayed for two nights, and were given a non-smoking room on the 16th floor which had a spectacular view. The staff on reception were helpful and kind, and always gave us their time, despite the slightly corporate feel of this large hotel.

The location of the hotel is good, being right next to the major railway station Sants (easy and direct from the airport), and a very short train ride into the city and to the major sites, so away from the hustle and bustle. It is a short walk to the Miro Park and perhaps 30 minutes walk to the stunning Museu Nacional d'Art.

I can see that this would be a popular spot for the corporate traveller due to its easy location, but equally it is charming and well-priced for the tourist, and the room itself was very comfortable, quiet and clean with good amenities. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Higher is better for the view.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. The staff are warm and friendly and go out of their way to make you comfortable. We requested a room on a higher floor to benefit from the panoramic views. They allocated us a room on the 22nd floor which is the highest floor. The room was a smoking room and we could just not tolerate it, so requested a move. The room they offered us on the 21st floor was not ready so they upgraded us, to a stunning suite on the 19th floor! The views were spectacular, the room very spacious and comfortable and it was perfect.
The furniture is dated but for the price one does not expect 5 star finishes, but the rooms are well maintained and spotless. The beds and pillows are superb for a great nights sleep.

We opted to do the open bus trip. Be aware that there are in fact two operators, we only realised this later. The company we used was Barcelona Bus Turistic, their buses however don't have any shaded covering, whereas the other company does. It was very hot whilst we were there and it would have been uncomfortable to be in the hot sun all day, but we come from Dubai and are used to the heat. There were a lot of very sunburnt people walking around...

There is the most outstanding food market in the Gothic quarter which is well worth a visit. The Human Body exhibition was also on and that was time well spent. The venue is within walking distance from the hotel.

We never tried out the restaurant for dinner, which we were sorry about later as the view is excellent. Breakfasts were adequate, it's cheaper if you pay for them at check-in and not as you go along.

We would definitely stay here again if ever in Barcelona which is a very energetic city.

Good location close to the main train station, which makes travelling from there to anywhere in Europe really easy.

Room Tip: Be sure to stipulate non smoking if this is your preference

We had a great experience at this hotel. The hotel itself is clean and modern. The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave us good recommendations and offered to call restaurants for us to make reservations. The hotel was in a convenient location, right next to Sants train station. We were able to travel to all the major sights via the train relatively quickly. The proximity to the train station also meant there were cabs readily available when we needed them. There is also a fair amount of things to do within walking distance provided you don't mind walking a few miles. The view from the top of the hotel (where Visual Restaurant is located) was phenomenal! 360 views of Barcelona! We didn't eat at the restaurant, so I cannot comment on that. The hotel bar was also a great and convenient place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. They have moderately priced drinks and give complementary snacks. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend.

Room Tip: Recommend corner rooms
