“A little bit unusual hotel”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Location is very good- in a working distance to all the places in Barcelona which the tourists visit usually. The rooms are big but have a strange wall between room and bathroom, it is not very convinient.
There is noisy in the room, all the windows are facing the street.
The breakfast is not like in 5 star hotel- a small choice af meal and juice.
The tables are very little.
This hotel suits for the very contemporary oriented people, it does not suite for them who loves classic hotel with traditional services.

Hotel Omm's attention to detail makes this one stand out from the other luxurious hotels in Barcelona. The unique spa makes it the perfect retreat from a busy day sightseeing and the location is ideal for exploring tapas bars off the beaten track. The staff are friendly and attentive. I recommend this place to anyone that wants a treat.

Just got back from staying 4 nights at this hotel. If you are into 'design' hotels with modern furniture and a very cool atmosphere, you will love it. The Hotel Omm is located in one of the most upscale areas of Barcelona with Gucci and Saint Laurent on your doorstep. Getting around is easy - it is centrally located, cabs were easy to hail, and you can walk to many of the top Barcelona attractions within a 15/20 minute radius (Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo, Passeig de Gracia, Placa de Catalunya).

The hallways are pitch black with blue floor lighting and illuminated room numbers that makes you feel like you are on a spaceship or something. The light and bright rooms are relatively spacious with large floor to ceiling windows, white linens and blonde wood floors. I agree with previous reviewers that the lighting controls are confusing - particularly if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and do not want to turn on the lights in the entire room, waking your traveling companion! Beds were comfy and the room was very clean. The temperature controls and air conditioning work very well. Our room was quiet and insulated against street traffic noise. You cannot hear your next door neighbour but occasionally you can hear people talking in the hallway. Note the toilet is located completely on the other side of the room from the shower and sink - if this would bother you then I would not book this hotel unless you can confirm that your room would have another layout.

Two of the best aspects of the hotel are the spa 'Spaciomm' and the roof terrace. Both have pools - the one on the roof terrace is not heated and not extremely large, but is very nicely laid out with inviting seating areas. The roof terrace itself is designed like a big wooden outdoor deck with lovely cushy chairs and lounges as well as a large bar. The view is great, and one can even see the fantastic chimneys on the roof top of La Pedrera only one street away. What a treat to lay out and soak up the sun in October in a setting like this!

The spa has a peaceful heated pool and a 'water circuit' that one can use for free if you are a hotel guest. You start with a steam, then move on to the 'ice fountain' to rub down those areas where you want to increase circulation. Then you walk through a series of hot/cold water fountains and showers until you slip into the nice warm water of the pool and lay on one of the jacuzzi hydro-massage 'beds'. I went twice and both times I was the only person in the steam room and pool area. The staff is very nice and helpful and while I did not have a treatment, I am sure that any would be bliss. I took a peek at the workout room as well - it was very clean and has all the basics (running machine, bike, pilates, weights) but no elliptical trainer. Additionally there is a hair dresser in the same facility.

The major drawbacks of the hotel are the food and the service. Yes, the hotel has one of the most highly rated restaurants in Barcelona, but when we ordered food on the first day from the roof terrace/bar menu we were disappointed. My burger was small with no lettuce, tomato or fries - only the meat, a bit of cheese and bun on a plate with two artistic brushes of hot mustard to add colour - for EUR 15. A man would need to eat two of them to feel full. My friend ordered the quinoa 'salad' which should really be described as a side dish of quinoa mixed with some vegetables, presented in a small bowl - also for around EUR 15. Maybe they are just trying to be hip and cool, but to me it was overly stylised with paltry portions.

As for the service, the bar and restaurant wait staff fall short for a hotel of this calibre. For example, simple things like coffee orders would be forgotten or strangely delayed (and then served luke warm). There were also problems with the wifi that eventually were fixed after much back and forth with the front desk and being told there was 'no way' to remedy the issue because where our room was placed. I must mention that the staff did arrange for a bottle of cava to be delivered to our room for our trouble, however.

All in all, I would still stay at this hotel again in the future if the room rate was reasonable because of the location, for the additional features like the roof terrace and spa, and the fact that it was comfy and quiet. The bar and lounge on the ground floor also looks quite inviting although we did not use it because we were out and about enjoying the great city of Barcelona instead!

another perfect hotel in center of barcelona and high quality service. Great sunday night parties and best place to have a drink after work. One of my favourite in barcelona and highly recommended! clean and nice rooms and prices are ok, not so expensive.

The location of this hotel was fantastic. The service was excellent. Especially the bellman. We had a car and they were amazing and fetching it immediately whenever we needed and were wonderful. Bar service was a little more confused, but friendly.

Our main complaint was the design of the room itself. Why put the water closet so far from the sink and the rest of the bathroom? Why was the switch to turn on the bedside lamps in the bathroom??? Why was the hallway pitch black? Makes one question how clean it can be if no one can see anything.

With a redesign of the rooms, this hotel could be great. As it is, we would not stay there again.

Also, I would not take their concierge's restaurant recommendations. The first place had great food but was filled with VERY loud obnoxious English bankers. The second, again had good seafood, but zero ambiance.

Stayed 1 night before heading to Mallorca. Good sized room. Very modern ( meaning lots of whites and light colored wood) if you're into that kind of thing. Fairly hip air about the place. A decent stay, we were probably just a little too tired and put off by the loud bearded hipsters from LA (that we left LA on vacation hoping to avoid) in the lobby to appreciate it fully. Great location though.

Honestly the worst hotel for the price I've ever stayed in! Reception was very rude from the beginning and they refused to refund the first night which we weren't here for because of being the hospital... We called to notify before 6pm that we wouldn't make it, and offered to move the entire reservation forward 1 day... The service was pitiful and the reception manager said she didn't care that we were in the hospital!

The room had obviously been flooded before, wood buckling on the floor, smallest balconies I've ever seen, shower head was from ikea, tv was 27" and had no language options, and they gave us a wake up call we didn't ask for!! Save your money and stay elsewhere!
