“Not just another Gaudi building”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

We had already seen the Casa Batllo and La Pedrera as well as Park Guell, so we weren't sure the Guell Palace was going to be worth seeing. Luckily, we were wrong! This building is really quite amazing and there's a lot to see here. The roof designs alone were worth the price of admission. Definitely worth the visit!

“An early Gaudi masterpiece”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

This is one of Gaudi's buildings that we missed during our previous visit to Barcelona, so we jumped at the chance to see it this time.

Even in this early building Gaudi's genius and attention to detail is visible. The audio guide was very informative, although frustratingly we couldn't access the extra snippets that it occasionally offered us.

The main hall in particular is beautiful: relatively small, due to the small footprint available for the building, but perfectly formed. During a recent restoration the existing pipe organ was replaced and occasionally during our visit it burst into life to give visitors an idea of the excellent acoustic of the space and what it might have been like to attend a recital here during the building's heyday.

“beautiful hike and views of madrid”

There's a lot to see, without buying the tickets to go into the pay area or museum. The only downside is all the crappy souvenir stations set up that our small children are drawn to like flies ;).

“Brilliant”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Well anything gaudi is amazing and really I could not get enough of it. This just topped it off with a very interesting audio tour (which left the audio on the grey line hop on hop off bus a lot to be desired).
It is simply incredible how guell lived and his relationship with gaudi allowing places like this to come to life.

“Whimsy gives vent to creative imagination and blow- your- socks- off creativity”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

The last place one would expect to find a magnificent town villa is in the middle of the somewhat oppressive darkness of the Carrier Nou de la rambla. I am pleased, nevertheless, that Mr. Guell decided to build one here and for choosing Gaudi as his architect with complete freedom to creative licence.

One can only imagine what it felt like to arrive in a coach and ride through the gateway,to be blown away by the visual splendour and imaginative style awaiting your senses. Stepping out of your imaginary carriage, you would have been bowled over by the amazing, mystical domed hall that rises through the floors, shrouded in darkness, reminiscent of a medieval inner courtyard

This is a home of someone at once religious yet avant-garde. The dome was engineered so that light penetrates slightly through minute apertures, creating a star- filled firmament. the living space is more intimate but hardly less grand. Gaudi pulled out all stops here, combining artistic and imaginative innovation with an interesting Arts & Crafts form.

The interior has canopies, arched galleries, decorative window glass and wall coverings.... carvings and extravagant furniture fill the inexhaustible creative imagination at play here. The roof is probably the most well known due to its amusing ventilation shafts and biomorphic decorations.
Loved this whimsy and imaginative concept,to bits
