“Good but could work on a few things”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

I spent 3 nights in this hotel and enjoyed the stay but there are certainly a few things the hotel could work on. The location is excellent placed just off Placa de Catalunya and a one minute walk to la Rambla. The bar area downstairs and the roof top bar are very nice although the aircon is perhaps too cold in the bar. The breakfast was excellent and has a good spread of cooked and continental choices. The room was nice with a large double bed and big bathroom. The main issue I felt with the hotel was it is starting to look pretty run down. We stayed on the 2nd floor and there are huge stains on the carpets and the power sockets are hanging out of the walls as well as in our room. The decor is nice but quite worn down in areas of the hotel. Although this is not a big issue I am simply comparing it to other 4 star hotels we staying in during our trip to Barcelona. The cleaning staff are also quite noisy from early in the morning.

Don't let any of this put you off staying here, you will certainly enjoy the hotel and in particular the rooftop bar.

We stayed here with our son and his partner. Great location loved it. Room was nice but worn is the word I would use on some of the fitments. The guy behind the bar on the ground foor got himself in a flap evertime someone came to the bar to order a drink it would take 10mins to serve you and he would dissapeared everytime. Not the best service in there. On the roof terrace it was lovely and the bar staff were great. We had a thunder storm on Saturday night and they brought your drinks down stairs to you. I would have thought that they could of had some kind or perspex on the top of the wooded shade as you could have watched the storm from roof and still be dry.
I do not think it is by any means a four star any more, the white sofas are all looking marked and the two loos that our down stairs are almost coffin like and roasting. Our room had marks all on the wall (211) a tv on the wall that sticks out enough for you to bang yourself on it whist walking around the bed (only English world news on it), Pictures were worn. The shower screne leaked in the corner flooding the bathroom floor when ever you used it, which could cause a very bad accident. Also the cleaning in the bathroom was very poor. I asked for someone to look at our bathroom and see the amount of marks down the bathside, i rubbed them with a towel and the man of reception agreed that I was right and he would sort it. Any way it was still the same when we left, even though he had asked me again the next day and asked how it was, and i expalined it was still the same.
If I stayed here again I would like to see the room first. I have stayed in another hotel which had a lot cleaner standards and a modern feel to it.

We were very pleased with our accomodations and the location of the hotel. Hotel provides free tours twice daily and the tour was the highlight of our vacation in Barcelona. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The roof-top bar was delightful and the hotel's restaurant and bar were very nice. Hotel offers a breakfast buffet but we opted for croissants and coffee, enjoyed in the lovely room or outdoor patio. Quiet location adjacent to the Ramblas and at the "newer" areas of the city, the extension..

We arrived without any credit cards as my wallet and my wife's purse were stolen in Montpellier as we got on the train to Barcelona. The hotel reception were friendly and helpful and trusted us when we said that replacement cards were on the way. The hotel is right near Placa de Catalunya (with its metro station) in the middle of Barcelona. Our deluxe room was spacious and very comfortable and quiet. The restaurant and breakfast was more than adequate. We would definitely go back there.

A wonderful hotel centrally located right at the top of La Ramblas. The staff really are a credit to this hotel, they were all extremely helpful, warm & welcoming. The room sizes were adequate, very clean, room to move and great bathrooms. Unfortunately the roof top bar was closed (not sure why as the weather was great) so that was a shame. The restaurant downstairs was great however with a lovely garden area.

My only advise is to not get a room on the road side as large garbage trucks collect rubbish throughout the night and hard to sleep through bottles clunking on metal. Overall it was a fantastic hotel and I will certainly be staying here again.

Room Tip: Street side rooms are extremely noisy in the middle of the night from rubbish collection trucks.

This was my second stay at this small stylish boutique hotel and this time my teenage daughters joined us.

The hotel we incredibly helpful giving us rooms on the same floor so we could be within easy reach.

We all loved the effortless charm of the hotel and clean comfortable rooms. Slightly ineffective air conditioning was the only small gripe.

The rooftop bar was a great place to start the evening.

Very helpful staff couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable particularly Rafa and his team on the front desk.
