This hotel was amazing. We were 5mins walk from La Ramblas and whenever it was too hot, we could easily go back to the hotel up to level 8 for the pool. We stayed in the corner suite which was an excellent size for a family although I am sure the standard rooms do justice for a short stay. We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. If you have a family and need to laundry, we went to Wash and Dry, which was like a 10-15min walk, passed the markets. Definitely head to La Bouqeria markets if you go to Barcelona, they have fresh everything.

Stayed at Hotel Jazz in 2005, a year after it'd opened, and on two separate occasions this year. The location is superb: walking distance to almost everywhere in central Barcelona, yet without hordes of tourists on the doorstep.

Rooms are spacious, furnishings are smart but basic. The beds are very large: a double bed is the size of a US king-sized bed. Bathrooms were dark, with a shower over the bath. Probably not the best designed-bathrooms I've seen: the first bathroom (July 2014) was a mobility-impaired bathroom, but featured a bath that would be difficult to get into without assistance, and the second bathroom (August 2014) had no shower curtain.

The common areas are great, and the pool deck is comfortable and spacious, affording a great view over the city (see photos). It's lovely to have an outdoor pool in Barcelona. There's a small lounge area in the lobby. Continental breakfast is available for under 12 euros, and is very good value. There's no gym, unfortunately.

Public transport access is great, as the hotel is located between Plaça Universitat and Plaça Catalunya, but it's an easy walk to the Eixample, Raval, Gotic and Born.

It's not a perfect hotel, and isn't 5-star, but at 130 euros a night, it's hard to go past this hotel. It's such great value. Spend the cash you'll save on some of the excellent restaurant recommendations from the front desk, such as El Cañete in Raval.

The best. I will stay here again. Close to metro and city center. A lot of activities going on. Walking distance to placa catalunya and La Rambla. Very modern and clean hotel and strongly recommended.

We really enjoyed this hotel in Barcelona! Great neighborhood with easy walking options, and a rooftop pool to enjoy the city view (not to mention delicious Sangria at the rooftop bar). Spacious room for a good value, quiet and dark to sleep in, but lots of windows for light. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Staff were also very nice to work with, especially Miguel at night. He went above and beyond when we had a problem to deal with (phone stolen on street).

Barcelona is a great town for so many reasons, and this hotel made the perfect compliment. No complaints whatsoever.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are larger for not that much more. Nice to have the space and windows.

Hotel Jazz has a great location, at the edge of las ramblas and a short block from a metro station. The room was large enough for three, with nice bathroom and even a 120v outlet. The staff was very friendly and efficient, even providing the unusual (for Spain) bucket of ice nightly. Barcelona is up 24/7 but the room was quiet, modern and with a fantastic AC in the 90 degrees days of August. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room for three or four with two beds; they are available, larger and worth the difference...

The hotel is very well located, only a few steps to Placa Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia and La Rambla; so you can definitely enjoy a lot of the interesting places in the city without having to take public transportation. For places slightly farther away, like Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell and Montjuic, you can take the metro at the Universitat station that is 30 seconds walking from the hotel. The staff at the hotel is very nice and helpful at all times. We were always greeted by the receptionists with a very friendly "Hola" at all times and they were helpful when we needed to print tickets to different attractions. The breakfast is reasonably priced and it is buffet-style. They have a very good selection and the food is overall very healthy. Regarding the rooms they are spacious and comfortable, with a very clean bathroom. Only problem is that the ones that face the inner courtyard (like ours, 202) are very dark during the daytime and could use better illumination. I am 34 years old and sometimes I could not read the label of certain things because it was so dark. I would probably also offer an iron in each room and try to offer a gym for those of us who like to workout during our trips. The rooftop has amazing views of Barcelona and the pool and bar are quite nice if you want to take a little sun; however, at night the music and overall vibe could be improved to become more attractive to guests. I recommend this hotel for leisure travels. It offers a very good value.

Room Tip: The higher the floor the better, but I would try to avoid rooms facing the inner courtyard.

We stayed at the Jazz Hotel for 4 days 18th-22nd August 2014. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from Les Rambles, one of the main attractions of Barcelona. It was spotlessly clean, modern and good in room touches, such as the supply of a toothbrush etc. The roof top pool and seating area was just wonderful, and again spotlessly clean.

The breakfast was of good quality with a very good range to chose from.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

To top it all it was very good value for money. You couldn't ask for more really.

Room Tip: We had an inward facing room and it was perfectly ok, but if you prefer a view as for an outward fac...
