Silken Concordia Hotel

The hotel has recently been upgraded and the room looked to be practically brand new! The lobby was stylish and the staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived rather early but the room was ready for me. Only slight issues such as a few rough edges in the stairwells where renovation was just being completed (must be finished by now) and the TV had numerous channels but some were 'unavailable'. I would stay here again and recommend it.

Stayed for one night after the cruise before returning to the US. Picked this hotel based on it's closeness to Placa de Espanya (Metro/subway, Train station, Airport Express Bus/Aerobus, etc) and reviews. Room was big by European standard. It's very clean. Nice pillow and comfortable bed. Staffs were very friendly and helpful! Metro is 50M away. There's a small pastry shop 2 doors down; a pastry and a cup of coffee costs 1.6 Euros. I enjoyed the stay

This is a very nice, clean, and well appointed hotel. I'd say it is the best non-North American major brand hotel experience I've had anywhere in Europe. By that I mean it's not a Marriott, Hyatt or Hilton, but the quality and service are parallel while still having that boutique European ambiance. Rooms are large compared to most European hotels, bathroom was spotless, with all of the amenities. Beds are comfortable with good quality linens. Hotel is conveniently located at the L3 metro line at Poble Sec station with easy access to all of Barcelona's hotspots. There are two average sized elevators, which may not seem like a big deal, but as is the case in many smaller European hotels, there are no elevators or tiny ones big enough for one person that are slow, if functional at all. It is a bonus not to have to schlep bags up and down stairs. We were very pleased to have several electric outlets available throughout the room to plug in hair dryers, charge phones, iPads, etc. overnight. Aside from the excellent accommodations, the staff are fantastic. So polite and helpful. Not to mention, they all speak perfect English---which saved me the embarrassment of trying to communicate in my broken American Spanish ;-) We really have nothing negative to say about the Silken Concordia. I would just add that they charge a 1.20 euro/person/day city tax that is payable separate from your reservation at checkout, so keep some cash on hand to pay that before departing. Aa definite two thumbs up. Will stay here again if returning to Barcelona.

I'm kind of in two minds with this hotel.

The hotel location was excellent, staff were friendly, the hotel was clean and the rooms were decent. Also, our request for a high floor at the rear (to avoid the street noise) was granted.

However, this isn't a 4 star hotel in my opinion and claiming to be one just tees up disappointment. Had one or two issues during our stay. Firstly, there was a heating, or rather a cooling, issue during our stay and our first night was really uncomfortable. The staff were excellent in dealing with our gripe and we got moved to a lower floor which was a lot cooler, but the room wasn't quite as nice.

The last couple of days were noisy with scaffolding being erected, but I can accept decorating, etc is best done in low season.

Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it, but I just can't get excited over it. Would probably try somewhere else for our next visit.

We arrived early in the day, and they were very helpful in giving us a room right away. We had a view of the street, and since we keep the window open (in Nov) it was a little noisy, but not anything that was out of the ordinary. The room was clean and comfortable, and staff were friendly and helpful.
The location was within walking distance to many areas, and the Hop on/ Hop off bus was easy walking distance. The Subway system was very close, so many areas were easily accessible.
