Stayed here for a week end of June/begining of July 2013. Good location for sightseeing, short walk to Urgell tube station and for airobus too. lots of good places to eat close to the hotel and due to tube was easy to reach Los Ramblas in the evening. Took in a day trip to Montseratt which was an experience, so high and so beautiful! Would recommend this hotel, although the pool is very small we did manage a late afternoon swim. One downside, the TV only had Spanish speaking chanels plus CNN, but if on holdiday who needs TV!

Room Tip: choose a high floor for good wifi reception, windows at the front of hotel don't open for securi...

Stayed here in October. The room was very clean. The jacuzzi and sauna were very nice at the end of a long day sightseeing. The reception staff were really helpful. They recommended excellent nearby restaurants. We only ate in the restaurant one night but it was really tasty.

Fantastic location, short walk from Urgell Metro station and about a 20 min walk from Plaza di Catalunya. Small plunge pool on the 2nd floor represents a great way to wind down after a day's sight-seeing in the July sun. Felt like a new person after a short swim and chill on the deck in the evening sun, ready to tackle the fantastic array of restaurants within easy reach of the hotel. Location and pool apart, what really made this hotel stand out for me (and my husband and teenage daughter with whom I was traveling) were the hotel wonderful staff. Every interaction was a positive (which included Reception, cleaner, porter, restaurant at breakfast etc) - not only polite and helpful but warm and friendly too, a prevailing sense that they really wanted you to enjoy your stay there. My one slight quibble - but I emphasise that it is only a minor one - is that
breakfast could be improved with some freshly squeezed juice, freshly-served coffee (it comes from a machine) and perhaps a greater variety of cereals and prepared fresh fruit. There were delicious fresh pineapple and melon and unprepared oranges, apples and kiwi fruit but I would have liked perhaps some strawberries, grapes etc. My daughter liked the mini-croissants! The overall message though is that this is an excellent base from which to explore the wonderful city of Barcelona! Highly recommended!

Room Tip: We were in 209 and it was great - very convenient for pool but no associated down-side.

We stayed in Acevi Villaroel for 3 nights in June 2013.
We were very pleased with the hotel, it was very clean, quiet, professional and the staff was very friendly and helpfull.
The room was very spacious and the bed was one of the best beds that we have come across in our trips. The breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 3rd floor and the wifi came and went. I have heard that wifi was better in higher f...

We stayed here in June and had a short trip so wanted good facilities but without paying premium prices. This hotel room was modern, clean, comfortable bed, nice size bathroom, but the sink was in the room which was weird but didn't matter, as it was fine. Reception lovely, breakfast continental but nice also and really it had all you would need. We walked from hotel to Las Ramblas, and la Pedrera.

We stayed at Acevi Villaroel from 29 June to 2 July 2013. We found this hotel to be clean, relaxed, professional and well positioned. My husband and I found it to be a good base for 2 metro stops with Urgell being the closest. We like walking around and we wandered on foot to dinner most nights but caught the metro to get to the beach front on the last evening.

The pool is lovely and catches the morning sun which we loved since we sat there after breakfast for an hour or so before heading out for the day. It is not a big pool but I didnt go there to swim laps.

The breakfast was bread for toast, fruit, pastry goods, cereals, great coffee and tea with decaf offered, hot chocolate too, juices, some hot like lovely littles sausages, bacon and ok scrambled eggs. We didnt eat in the restaurant of an evening but there were always people eating there when we walked past.

The hotel is a business hotel which meant cool, clean and smart. It didnt disappoint. The breakfast staff worked hard. We had room 409 which was excellent. It was spacious! Our shower head was broken and wouldnt stay up on the rail but I just used my hairband to hold it in place. I didnt tell reception but perhaps the cleaners should have noticed??

Our room looked out to other units but I didnt go to Barcelona to stay in my room. It aas nice and quiet which was what we wanted. Yes you can hear the occasional loudmouth in the corridor but tell them to shut up if it bothers you.

There was a free computer on our floor next to the lifts which was generous and worthy of a mention. We used the free wifi in our room too which we never had any problems with.

Checking in and out was a breeze. Kids were not loud or noisy but perhaps they had respectful parents and learned something from them. There were not many kids at this hotel either but those that we did see enjoyed the pool and food.

Catch the airport train called Renfre to the Sants stop and get the metro to the Hospital Clinic stop. Then walk down Villaroel street to the hotel. So easy and sooo much cheaper. Buy a T10 metro ticket which you are allowed to use from the airport if you just buy the Zone 1 type for under €10. This ticket can be shared between 2 or more people but you have to put it through the entry machines at the stations for each person. Very simple system. Great money saver and the metro is a great way to get around.

Go to the restaurants at Olympic Park at the beach. We wish we discovered it earlier! Great food and much cheaper than in the town centre. Shopping is great at Carre El Inglis near Passieg de Gracia station.

Barcelona is a wonderful colourful city. Dont forget to make the uphill trip to see Gaudi's pieces of work in Park Guell.

Room Tip: Floor 4 is great. Floor 2 is where the pool is so may be easier if you have kids.

Clean, friendly and well located, this hotel provides everything for a citytrip in barcelona in walking distance of most attractions. We enjoyed our stay here! The pool area is clean but the pool is quite shallow ! We would return here.
