“Apartment 101”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Amazing apartment - so close to everything, but quiet when you got home... easy access to Ramblas, Port, shops, bakery for breakfast etc...
Everthing you could possibly want was available closeby or in the apartment itself.
4 stayed - with two beds and two superb bathrooms. Lovely internal terrace and small outside balcony for pre dinner drinks. Absolutely loved it...
We stayed as a surpeise birthday weekend for my husband and it was everything we could have wished for......lots of lovely restaurants, we enjoyed a drink at at the Majestic roof rop terrace, wonderful views...

Room Tip: we stayed at the back which was probably quieter, but would be happy with either, it's not a noi...

We stayed in 2 apartments, first was Landscape , second was Baroque. Both apartments had 4 bedrooms, Landscape had a huge kitchen and smaller living room area, and a very small narrow balcony off the back. Overall space of Landscape was smaller than Baroque. The pictures of Baroque on the BCN website make the kitchen look large,, it is very small,, not sure how they did that? Also the bedrooms look much larger than they actually are. The picture of the bed with 2 lamps and a mirror over the bed are a joke!! The tables and lamps were so close to the bed (and it is 2 twin beds pushed together,, with very thin mattresses and support) that it was hard not to bump into the table , knock the mattress off the twin foundation and end up with a lamp on the floor ( that may or may not have happened while we were there.....:) The pic of the bathroom is just a small toilet bathroom in the hallway,,, made to look much larger than it is. This all being said,, the place is in a great location. Plenty of room to store things in long hallway or in living area. It has a nice balcony facing the street, tiny table and 2 chairs on balcony, but great views. You can walk to many restaurants and shops from this location,, cabs are nearby too. Small grocery store 2 blocks away (ask at reception or you will never find it). Bring adapters for outlets if you are not from Spain,, they do not provide them and are not too easy to find in the area.
Towels were a bit skimpy by USA standards, one large and one small per person,, and not replaced daily. There was a washing machine but we did not have time to do laundry. Guess the washer also works as a dryer,, found that out later...Reception tries to be helpful but they seemed very hurried when asked questions about the apartment. Getting trash removed was also a problem,, had to call multiple times and even then it was not always taken away. Internet worked well most of the time, but not always. Elevator in building very small but it worked. Overall would recommend this property,,, just be aware of a few quirky things and the fact place(S) not as large as they appear online

My husband and I and another couple rented the Colonial at BCN apartments for two nights prior to our cruise departure. The apartment was absolutely beautiful and had just about everything we needed. We would have enjoyed more English speaking television channels but, in the end, we didn't spend much time in the apt just watching tv! We arrived about two hours before check-in and the staff was very nice and accommodating. We were allowed to store our bags until check-in in a secure place.
The apartment is located directly on Rambla Catalunya and is a 15-20 minute walk to La Boqueria in the heart of La Rambla. There are nice restaurants right around the apartment and a Metro stop and grocery store are not far away.
My only issue was with payment of our deposit. For some reason the online credit card payment would not work so we ended up completing a bank transfer. This incurs more fees when, sadly, the dollar doesn't go very far in Europe to begin with. We also had to pay the balance in cash (Euros) which is also inconvenient to travel with.
All in all, it was a great time in Barcelona. I would not hesitate to recommend BCN apartments to anyone.

We enjoyed 3 days in Barcelona for a pre-cruise family stay in the Rambla Catalunya 103 building second floor apartment, RAMBLA CATALUNYA AUVERGNE. Yasmina and the staff working in the third floor made taxi arrangements from the airport and to the ship. Yasmina provided first class service and was very responsive. We really appreciated the personal attention from Yasmina and their staff. The building is very old and beautiful. The apartment is new, very unique, and modern. The balcony view is great. Appliances included a small washer dryer combo unit (took a bit of getting use to it), full size fridge, stove, Nespresso machine, wine fridge, and dishwasher - all in good or new condition. The family was very happy with the apartment. I just wish we could have stayed much longer! The location is perfect for walking and sightseeing.

We stayed in the Baroque apartment on the 4th floor, beautifully decorated ideal for couples and families. The concierge very helpful and spoke English which was a bonus in Spain. Would definitely recommend these apartments.

We stayed at BCN Rambla Catalunya in mid May. The surrounding area has a lot of restaurants and shops and is in a very safe area. The apartment is perfectly set up for two couples traveling together. Las Ramblas is about a 30 minute walk away.

That being said, renters beware! I booked the reservation on Travelocity about 3 months before we left; however when we arrived, the current price advertised on Travelocity was $150 cheaper and staff would not honor the new price. We also asked for a taxi to take us to the airport; their taxi service was 50 euros so we got a taxi curbside and it was only 20 euros.

We would have appreciated if the person-in-charge (PIC) had told us beforehand the exact address of the apartment rather than just 101-103. We stopped at the wrong building which was not too far away but with loads of luggage and bags, it was really a chore. The PIC would have already known which apartment we would be staying at, prior to our arrival, hence would have been efficient if she had informed us the exact building number, especially when I have been going back and forth on emails with her (we were negotiating airport transfers). Had to wait about 15mins before she showed up.

Location- About 15mins walk from Placa Catalunya. Not quite an ideal location for us as we preferred to be somewhere bustling and full of actions. Ample of restaurants below the apartment.

Apartment/Rooms: Based on the photos online, were given the Provenzal Penthouse- a 3 bedroom unit. The building itself, before you get into the apartment, was almost creepy and old. Like a horror movie setup. The lift was atrociously small, our party of 8 had to make several trips up and down. But when you enter the apartment, it was a different story. It was modern, clean and spacious. It was 90% as per shown in photos. Everything worked well, stove, aircon etc. Had a spacious balcony but got to be extra mindful being out there with an active 3 year old prancing around.

We requested for a late check-out as our we only needed to be in the airport by 2pm. Request was met with a flat “No” - even when we offered to pay a fee as we had a small kid and a baby with us and would not really wish to wander aimlessly while waiting for pickup to the airport. The guy who attended to us at check-out had a better personality I feel. At least not cold-mannered.

For the price we paid, Euro570 (Euro70 mandatory cleaning charges) for 3 nights, it was fine- especially when we had little issues with the apartment itself. If you need a place to stow your luggage before a flight, it will be placed at the basement on either building.

Don’t think I would come back to this place again- mainly of the location. Would look elsewhere but if anything else fails, will consider re-booking this place.
