Came here on a recommendation from our hotel. The wine list was extensive and had wine to suit all budgets. The menu was ok but the fresh fish is completely overpriced, not what you would expect from a restaurant so close to the sea. Had a half portion of Jamon Iberico €13.95 which was decent, not amazing. The waitresses were clearly bored and every time I placed my knife and fork onto my plate, they tried to clear it away! When taking my desert order, they just said "what do you want?". To sum it up, an overpriced, very average meal and the service leaves a lot to be desired.

On a quick pre-Christmas trip to Barcelona, Mrs LP and I found this bar/tapas/restaurant on the Ramblas near our hotel. The special menu on the blackboard outside tempted us in, to find a clean, friendly establishment. Football showing on a TV in the corner, the local police eating/drinking out of the way in the upstairs salon, locals popping in and out (one lady in her dressing gown!)

The first time in, we went for the set menu - house salad - which was quite filling, containing eggs, asparagus, ham etc., followed by a 750g veal t-bone served with fries and steamed veg, along with tomato bread. The veal was cooked exactly as ordered - superbly rare, and sealed to perfection from an obviously very hot grill. With a bottle of rioja, this came to 34Euros. Service was friendly, with all the (youngish) staff eager to please, and, possibly, to improve their English!

We enjoyed it so much, we returned on the Sunday night, and had another very enjoyable meal - I ordered the Iberico ham as a starter - the waitress returned distraught that they didn't have enough of this as the delivery hadn't turned up. However, 5 minutes later she turned up with a plate containing about 100g (8 slices) of this delicious meat, explaining it wasn't enough for the full starter, but please accept it on the house!

Mrs LP had opted for another fixed menu, advertised as coming with a small drink - pleasantly surprised when this turned out to be a bottle of rioja rose!

I would highly recommend this place to anyone from romantic couples to families looking for cheap quality food.

This is a lovely restaurant but was quite average. On the night my husband and I visited El Nou the restaurant was quiet, but we still had to wait ages for menus and someone to take our drinks order. When eventually the waitress took our order of a large beer and a glass of wine,we received a small beer and two glasses of wine. It didn't get any better as when ordering our steaks we asked what accompanied the meal and were told veg and potatoes, but this didn't happen and what we got was two slices of potatoes each. To be fair the steaks were well cooked but we didn't enjoy them without any type of veg. When another couple came in they ordered the same steaks but they received various types of vegetables !! It could have been a bad night for El Nou but I wouldn't visit again.
