Lovely helpful staff, amazing stay Wish it was longer! No faults to think of. Wow. I just tried to enter this review and you have to enter 200 characters min... first time for everything. I will definitely stay again, would want the larger room next time though :D

Casa Kessler is a great option when visiting BCN. If you want somewhere with style, and character, right in the centre of things this is the right choice. Stayed in a double with a shared bathroom, and also a double ensuite - both were good, but I have to say the ensuite room upstairs was actually amazing. Really helpful friendly staff, too, which is a bonus. Highly recommended.

This is a wonderful hostel where you are treated like family. It is a little sparser than a small economically priced hotel. I didn't notice any air conditioning, for example, and our room for two was small. However, there is a lovely sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and balcony. I did ask for and was given extra pillows and a hair dryer. It was very quiet in our room. Most important, you could not find nicer people at the front desk to help you navigate your way around the city. They will assist you to make all your arrangements for museums and take the time to show you how to get there. The location is great and there are lots of places to eat nearby. You are about 10 minutes from the Placa Catalunya. The rooms are spotless and are fashionably decorated. This is a great option if on a budget. Compared to most hostels, this is the deluxe model.

This boutique hostel is very cool!
We stayed there for 3 nights in an ensuite room.
The room was perfectly clean and all the details were very cosy like sheets, pillows, mirrors and there was a very big shower.
There's also a very nice terrace where you can relax.
The location is perfect, 10 minutes walking to Plaza Catalunya, Casa Batllo, La Pedrera and some metro stations and all the district is definitely stylish with amazing buildings.
All the staff was very helpful and kind, especially Hanne.
I definitely come back there in Barcelona!

A hidden gem! We were welcomed to the door by name! It was lovely and warm inside the hostel/hotels and Heeni (spelling?) was really friendly and helpful with recommendations. Having seen pictures online we booked thinking it looked beautiful. We were a bit apprehensive as it looked too good to be true but were blown away! It was better than we could have ever hoped for!! She recommended a tapas bar that was divine! The beds were made for us each day and the whole place was spotless and inviting. Hot showers, large lockers, individual bed lights, dishwasher, big towels (€2), lots of cutlery and dishes. And I loved that they had tupperwear. As travellers, this meant we were able to take packed lunches around the city and save money on food during the day. We are returning to Casa Kessler next week for a second visit.

Casa Kessler is ideally located in the Eixample, the main neighbor of Barcelona, on the elegant Carrer de Enrique Granados. The hostel is housed on the first floor of an old 1800s building. And it is more like a "casa" (i.e. house) as the name says, with a small kitchenette and a pleasant living room with a quite terrace. Rooms are nicely furnished and when provided with bathroom, the bathroom and shower are very functional. You need to prearrange with the staff in order to have a quite room, since most of the rooms are facing the main street which is not generally jammed, yet you may still hear noise during the night, especially during summer time, due to the main cafes and restaurants located nearby.

On this respect Casa Kessler would be really the perfect spot to stay once in Barcelona. The staff is very nice and pleasant and very helpful. The only drawback of this otherwise spotless hostel is the fact that, regretfully, is not clean. Once I arrived, the first night I could not enter in my bed because once moving off the blanket that covered the sheets, I found hairs on the sheets. I originally thought that it was an accident so I did not care too much. However during my 1-week-long stay I noticed that cleaning of the bathroom was done only superficially. Garbage was not removed every day. And at the day of my check out, surprisingly, they were cleaning the room for the next guest while I was actually still in the room and using the toilet. I also regretted to figure out that they prepared the bed for the next guest but they kept my sheets as well as the pillow covers. Which then I eventually connected with the cause of the hair in my bed the first night. This is frankly unacceptable.

Hello

thank you for posting your opinion, as a traveller and user of trip advisor.com we find it very helpful always to see other people’s reviews. But what is “unacceptable “ to quote you, is to miss-inform. We will try to correct the mistakes one by one from the beginning, this way we won’t miss anything. Not most of our rooms are facing the street, only two of them actually, and the street is semi-pedestrian and there is very little noise during the night or day.

Regarding what you said about the place being spotless, thank you so much, that is true, is one of the things our guests most appreciate, it wouldn’t make sense to have it like this everywhere around the hostel and not in the rooms and bathrooms, would it?!? Ours is actually probably one of the few hostels if not the only one, who has a hotel like, daily cleaning service. Not only do we clean every day if not we make all the rooms, double or shared, no need to detail garbage, bathrooms and all the rest.

About the sheets, what is “unacceptable” is to imply that we use the shame sheets for several guests, probably not even in a cheap basic hostel they would do that. It is an absurd lie. We take great pride in having invested in quality mattresses, pillows and cotton sheets and not only do we change it between guests, we also do it several times for the same guest on longer stays.

And lately, check out is 11 o’clock and I think you do know that in a shared room when one guest leaves there is another one coming and that bed has to be changed and prepared for the next guest, who will also want to find it fresh and clean and all well organized. The fact that we allow our guests to keep on staying in the hostel during the whole day, after checking out, as a courtesy, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take into consideration our new guests who have to find the room perfectly clean and fresh as I am sure you did. If you indeed were our guest.

What is confusing as that you speak about the rooms facing the street which are shared ones and then say that you were in the bathroom in the room - which could only be possible in a double en suite room - when the cleaning lady entered and started to change the sheets, which obviously would be difficult, as we need the key that you give us when you check out and only after that, we give it to the cleaning lady. We also find it strange that you know that there is noise on the street in the summer considering that the dates of visiting us - checking what you wrote in trip advisor - are in february. We also checked and we haven’t had anyone from Israel since quite a few months ago. It all sounds like you have never been here, so, if it is the case, we invite you to come visit us, and we are sure you will love it as all of our guests do. We take pride in making everything we can to make each trip special.

Casa Kessler is possibly the best hostel I've stayed in yet. The staff is ridiculously friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, the location is good and the building itself is beautiful (Art Nouveau).
