“Stylish hotel, great location.”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Pros:
Overall this hotel is lovely, it is clean, chic and in a great location. On arrival, we were offered cava and we were so impressed at the hotel reception area and the helpfulness of the reception staff. Our room was a superior room with a terrace which faced the garden, it was on the fourth floor. it was super spacious and the balcony was beautiful.

Cons:
We were disappointed by the roof top terrace because we specifically picked the hotel because of its facilities, but it was so busy with people claiming sun loungers that we were unable to use the facilities we had paid for. Luckily we had our private terrace which was a lovely place to relax.
The breakfast was not great, but was acceptable.

Overall nice stay, but not sure I would return.

Room Tip: If you can, get a superior room with a balcony on a higher floor. You'll be really grateful to h...

I loved this hotel. The staff from Elfrin to Nacho were exceedingly pleasant and helpful, the room was clean and pleasant (good AC) and the breakfast was fantastic. It was just a wonderful stay at a great hotel. The location was fantastic as well. Not to close to Las Ramblas and yet not far from all the major sites.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view and a deck.

I would have given this property a 4 star for location and esthetics but simply could not due to a couple issues:

Pros:
1) great location
2, nice sleek design, relaxing terrace facing garden, quiet rooms if chosen to the back
3) nice ( tiny) plunge pool and lounge area on roof top,
4) great bfst, Nespresso in room

Cons:
1) extremely small room and only comfortable as single traveler ( not for 2) with no space to sit, unpack luggage, storage Room

2) requested early check- in (1:00 vs 3:00 pm) due 22 hrs overseas travel with 10 yr old child. Called 5 days prior to arrival again to reconfirm my request. True, I was told that check-in is 3 pm indeed ( yes, I read the rules but most 4star properties aim to work with their clients) . Upon arrival, the same information was communicated and I was asked to go for a walk ( seriously, after arriving from US with my daughter??) and leave my phone number to be called when the room would be ready. I appropriately a comment was made that other travelers have yo wait as we'll - no matter if overseas travel or not. Only upon me insisting and requesting to speak with the manager housekeeping was called to prioritize my room for cleaning. This certainly is not representative of the price tag and a 4 star service. We were allowed into our room 1 hr prior to check- in time but this experience certainly dampened the otherwise enjoyable stay

Room Tip: Book superior facing garden, high floor

Dear Travel2Adventure,

We would like to thank you for your comments and for your time used in writing them! We really appreciate it!

And thank you for your nice description of the hotel!

We regret to know you didn't enjoy at all your stay because of the check-in time. We understand that you arrive to the hotel after a long flight, but we would like to explain you that most times due to the hotel occupancy, it is not possible for us to get all the rooms ready before the check-in time. Whenever is possible, we try to satisfy all guest requests, as we always work to provide excellent stays to our clients.

Thank you once again and best regards from Barcelona.

I enjoyed my stay.Rooms were small but were set up with the idea of using space in a efficient way very modern looking. The hotel is were you want to be in the center of Barcelona close to transportation and restaurants. The hotel staff are very helpful and work hard to keep the property clean. Most of the hotel staff speak more than one language so communicating is no problem. The breakfast was good and the coffee was fabulous.I hope to visit again.

We have just had a fantastic stay at this hotel (3rd-6th July2014). After arrival at the airport we collected a map for the underground/over ground train network and easily navigated our way to the tube station facing the hotel with only one change. Upon arrival we found out that if you take a 5 minute walk you can get to the airport direct, either way both very convenient.

We were on the early flight so we arrived at the hotel before mid-day so our room was not ready but the girl on reception showed us to a very clean spacious toilet where we could change and then securely stored our bags until we returned.

We returned to the hotel around 3pm and our room was ready and we duly check in to room 107. The room was modern, spotlessly clean if a little small but nothing that affected our stay or comfort. As our room was on the first floor you could hear the noise from the underground lines passing over, at first I was slightly concerned about this but within a few hours we didn't hear this anymore. It is also worth noting that there is very few trains 11pm-7am so there was never an issue whilst sleeping, however if you have children who need to sleep during the day then maybe ask for a room on a higher floor.

We were on a B&B rate so ate breakfast for three days in the hotel, which we found to be excellent and the lady who appeared to be the breakfast manageress was excellent!

The location for us (a Couple) was perfect, close enough to walk to where we wanted but far enough away to not be bothered by what was going on outside.

It is worth while noting that we usually opt for a 5* hotel but as this was last minute break we gave it a chance and it paid off as the 4* H10 Urquinaona Plaza Hotel was as good as some 5* hotels we have stayed in!

Our great experience began before we set foot in the hotel, when we corresponded with the staff before arrival. Katia sent directions to the hotel and assisted with our room reservation and other details to make our 30th anniversary perfect. We arrived around noon and Chantal helped us get settled and out on the town to start our Barcelona adventure. For the next three days we fell into a pattern of getting directions to classic Barcelona sites by day from the friendly and helpful staff, recommendations to fantastic restaurants from Nacho and the night staff, and finishing with pleasant nights in this unique little hotel by the square. Our beautiful room was on the second floor (with a lovely balcony), and though you do hear some rumbling from the metro, it didn't disturb us in the least. The glass doors are top quality for blocking out any sounds from the plaza across the street. The convenience of the location (very central, a 5 minute walk to La Rambla, and across the street from the metro) was worth the minor subway trembling. The hotel is wonderfully appointed, but it's really the exceptional staff (most of whom speak excellent English) that make this hotel such a great place to stay. We're so grateful to them for making our visit a perfect 10. We can't wait to visit again!

Room Tip: 201 has a rod iron balcony that overlooks a plaza (across the street) where there's a metro stop...

I stayed here for 3 nights from 2nd July and was really impressed. The staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful, the room was cleaned every day and there was plenty of space, with a balcony overlooking the interior courtyard. The rooftop terrace with the plunge pool was a well appreciated facility too. The hotel has recently been renovated and is in very good condition, also the air conditioning works perfectly (not the case in other hotels I've visited!). I had wondered whether the central location would mean it was noisy, as I'd stayed in Barcelona before in another hotel near a Metro station and remember the trains rumbling on into the night! This wasn't the case though, as it was very quiet, even though it was just a few hundred yards walk from Placa d'Espanya - a brilliant location, within walking distance to the beaches, la rambla, and Sagrada Familia. At breakfast there was always a good variety of things to choose from, both hot and cold, including bacon, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes. Also, there was also a good selection of good quality fruit to choose from, such as pineapple, cherries, stawberries, kiwi, and I was really impressed on how the staff regularly topped up the food to ensure that there was always a good supply for the guests. In addition, the staff ensured that the area was always kept spotlessly clean. The Reception staff were some of the best I'd ever met, always willing to help and answer questions. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, and look forward to visiting there again!
