Marta's class was fabulous! We enjoyed learning to make the Paella and she was a wonderful hostess. We also enjoyed getting to know the other couples in our class and the meal on the balcony was a great way to end our time together. My souvenir from Barcelona was my very own Paella pan so I can make it at home!

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of participating in this great activity May 2014. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona. Marta is an excellent host, a brilliant educator, and master paella cook. Even if you don't like paella, you should take this class to meet this amazing woman and learn about the Catalan culture/history. I highly recommend that you plan an afternoon to partake in an unique activity that will appeal to all of your senses and provide you with an authenic experience of Spanish culture.

Before signing up for the cooking class, I chatted with Marta via the EatWith website to ask some questions, where you book the class. She was prompt with her responses, kind, and professional. She gave me a great first impression, which made me feel confident about booking the class.

Marta will email you directions to her home, which is right off of the Metro - easy to get to. Her home is clean, in a safe location, and has a great view from her balcony, where you will most likely dine on.

The group we had was truly international - 6 people, including ourselves from USA, 2 from South Africa and 2 from Italy. This is part of the reason why this class is so wonderful - you get to meet people from around the world, who are all eager to learn how to make paella.

Marta will share her background on how she came to teach paella, explain the roots of this Spanish dish, and then teach you hands-on. Everyone pitches in by chopping, peeling, stirring, reading directions, setting up the table, washing dishes, etc...At the end of it all, you get to enjoy a hearty serving of paella and soak up the Barcelona sunshine. Marta provides you with the recipe during the class, but she also emails it to you, which is fantastic.

Take this class and come hungry! Bring your camera to document the steps in making this delicious dish and bring your own wine (Marta will store your white wine in the fridge until the paella is ready to eat). My husband and I loved this class and we know you will, too!

Tip: We found the La Bomba rice at the Carrefour grocery store for a good price (I think it was 5 Euros), so we bought a couple of bags to take home to recreate our great meal with Marta.

We stumbled across Marta's Paella cooking class as something a little different to do in Barcelona, and we were not disappointed. Marta's class was hands-on (you can be involved as much as you like!) and many pointers were given for when we try this dish ourselves. Marta is lovely and extremely welcoming. We would definitely recommend!

It was my first time to visit Europe last month, May 2014. I was really grateful that the our Mediterranean Cruise started in Barcelona. I've had Paella for almost every day in Spain and on the ship! I would say nothing can top Marta's own version of home cooked Paella. For travelers who would like to have FUN-tastic experience of Barca, you need to meet this super lady! Thanks Marta for welcoming Jesa, Yvette and myself in your home and for the wonderful cooking class. We had loads of great feedback to tell to our other friends here in Dubai! xxx

Marta's paella cooking class was the highlight of my trip to Barcelona, which is high praise considering how much I loved Barcelona. Marta's background in education truly showed in creating an environment of fun learning, fun eating, and fun companionship. In a no-pressure environment (Gordon Ramsay or Hell's Kitchen this is not), Marta gives great insight into preparation and cooking of a paella along with some interesting background into her personal story, Catalan culture, and the story of paella at large. Although the group of travelers I ate with came from all over the world, once at table, it felt like dining with old friends, and Marta's charm and hospitality definitely drove that. BYOB and bring an curious mind and empty stomach!
