OKish - good bar but sub-par fitness
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Nov 2016
Since my last stay the hotel has done some remodelling. The major change is to convert the 13th floor fitness room to a bar. From a bar perspective this add as natural meeting place to the hotel - however the fitness room is now a windowless room roughly 5*5 meters on the 3rd floor, packed with equipment.

Combined with the fact that aircon was not working in November when I was visiting, I can only rate the hotel average. As a matter of fact - even though the conference I am doing is located in the hotel I am seriously considering staying elsewhere next year.

Stayed here for 6 nights visiting an event in the forum that is next to the hotel.

The rooms (standard) were spacious and modern but some wear and tear was clearly appearing at multiple place in the rooms. The room was very clean.

The room was however missing a few items like coffee machine and ironing machine that you can normally expect as this price level. After two night they also turned of the airco making it really hot in the rooms and resulting in a few sleepless nights as I could not sleep because of the heat (25+ degrees celsius). My colleague who was also staying in the hotel had the same experience. According to the hotel staff they turned it off on the request of a few guest who complained it was too cold and that there was nothing they could do about it. Very disappointing.

The hotel also has a nice bar with a pool and a beautiful view on the 13th floor. Breakfast was good as well.

Due to the high price level (for Barcelona standards) my expectations are also high and too be honest they need do better in order to receive 4 or 5 stars.

Thank you for posting this review and sharing your feedback on what appears to have not met your expectations.

According to our records we did not have problems with our air conditioning. We would remiss, however, if we don´t mention that our hotel has a central cooling/ heating system and we would like to apologize for any inconveniences that you may have had due to our system.

We're glad you were able to enjoy our new cocktailbar "The Suite Ba"r on 13th floor and we would love to welcome back in Barcelona.

Thank you again for sharing your feedback.

Esperanza Dominguez.

The room was clean and very comfortable. Located next to the Diagonal Mall, plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Short cab ride to the downtown area.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, with recommendations and advice.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Very clean and spacious rooms. The breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from. Beautiful views, great food and we had the best Sangrias and Mojitos from Jose Pozo. Great location, short walk to Metro and a taxi pick up in front of hotel. The mall is across the street, perfect to pick up a few souvenirs.

Our experience was enhanced by the excellent service from Toni the bartender on the magnificent 13th floor lounge. His Sangreas and mohitos were perfection and his knowledge of his city was wonderful. We thank him for his excellent service and personality.
Our front desk service was exceptional as well and all provided smiles and fabulous service.

This hotel is probably ok if you are on a business trip and staying here one, maximum two nights, paied by your company, but not longer. Everything is quite expensiv for what you get, hotelroom, food and drinks and every little extra will be charged as wifi and parking. For being not in the city center, one could expect this would be included in the very high room prices for very average rooms.

Thank you for your comments! We regret you stay was not entirely satisfactory but we can assure the prices are set acccording the current ones in the market. However, even we have a lot of business guests coming, we have also lots of facilities for families and those leisure guests who want to come just for relax, like family rooms with sea views, lots of shopping facilities, easy and quick transportation to the city centre and the beach nearby, besides our restaurant on the 13th floor with an outside pool and lots of cocktails specialities.
