“INCREDIBLE TOUR -- WORTH HIS WEIGHT IN GOLD”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

My wife and I just returned from Barcelona and to say that Dan "made" our trip would be an understatment. We spent a full two days with Dan who proved himself to be not only deeply knowlegeable about the history and culture of Barcelona, but more importantly expert at designing "tours" that were specifically designed to meet our specific interest. While we were interested in seeing many of the usual sights, we were more interested in exploring the city from the eyes of the local people and thorugh food. Our first day was spent getting a personalized tour of the city's "main attractions" as well as some lesser known sites, neighborhoods, and venues. As we are "foodies" -- and like to experience new places through local food -- we spent the entire second day on a highly personalized gastronomic food tour of Barcelona. We spent hours walking through markets, big and small, sampling the fares every step along the way. Dan also took us to both "well known" favorites (El Quim, Quimet y Quimet, etc.) and even more "off the beaten path" tapas bars (sorry, we promised him we would not publicize the names), with an obligatory local vermuth at most stops. At our request, Dan helped us explore higher end establishments as well as tiny inexpensive places that were not always in the best part of town but which specialized in one or two specific delicaces. We ended the second day in a food coma and now are relegated to living off the memories. Dan also helped us with restaurant selections for the remainder of our trip, every one of which was simply spectacular. Apart from our wedding day and the bith our children, it will definaitely go down as one of the best days we have ever had. Bravo Dan, you are a true professional.

“Thoroughly Worthwhile”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2014 via mobile

We happened upon Dan when he was giving a small group tour in the Gothic area. After eavesdropping for a moment, we were so impressed, that my husband asked Dan for his card. He was immediately responsive to our calls and emails and could not have made booking a time and place any easier for us. The entire experience was seamless. We were booking a private tour, so Dan readily customized it to suit our interests. He was very flexible, too, throughout our almost 4 hours touring The Gothic and Born/Ribera districts, and he took us to a very quiet and pleasant coffee shop midway through (we met from 4 until almost 8pm) where the wall next to our little table was, in fact, part of the old Roman walls.
Dan's knowledge on the history of Barcelona, Catalonia, art and architecture is remarkable. Were he teaching/lecturing, we would most
certainly pay to hear him. He offered a wealth of information and was well-equipped to answer all sorts of our more obscure questions. As we had expressed an interest in the old Jewish quarter and any sites that might speak to the Civil War or the Franco period, he immediately knew where to take us but, more importantly, he put these sites within a compelling context. His passion for the Barcelona and it's exceptional history and culture comes through.
Warm, articulate, relaxed and accommodating, Dan really is the person you will want to guide you. And, he loves food and knows where to send you should you want unpretentious, local, authentic fare. He has made reading suggestions for us, too, and recommended other venus we should try not to miss while generously offering guidance on where to get tickets...
all the how's and when's.
We are so glad we booked Dan and may once more before we leave, if time allows. Otherwise, next year....!
Thank you, Muchas Gracias, Dan.

“"The" man in Barcelona”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

Dan is not only "Our Man in Barcelona," but he is THE man in Barcelona. We had a fabulous day touring this beautiful city. He spent time chatting with us prior to our arrival so he could personalize the tour and gear it to the interests of our family, as well as helping us to coordinate the activities on our other days so we could maximize on our time during this short visit. He brought us to lunch at an authentic restaurant specializing in paella and made other recommendations for restaurants in the area. He was informative and fun and we highly recommend him!

“Brilliant personalised tour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

We had such an enjoyable two hours with Dan wandering around Barcelona. He knows so much about the city and it was brilliant being able to specify what we were interested in for our tour. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Barcelona. Even if you've been before like we had!

“Markets and neighborhoods”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014

Dan Wilde was recommended to us for a personal tour of Barcelona. We requested a tour of "neighborhoods and markets" as that is our interest. He did a wonderful job of taking us through the city to see the history of the city and neighborhoods that are not on the beaten path. We also had a great lunch at a local foods type restaurant and got many tips of other places to eat at and see. He recommended a great book about the Spanish Civil War from a shopkeepers perspective. Highly recommend!!
