On way back home from Rome and this is just a stopover so really pleasantly surprised. Nice clean rooms ,comfortable with individual heating ,very pleasant staff and a restaurant that just reopened yesterday -where we ate ,as we arrived late; lovely decor ,service and food . After reading so many negative comments much better than expected

The best thing in the hotel is it's location you can reach mostly anywhere by metro and bus or on foot. most of the staff there were very helpful especially Anna she was the best. The room is clean it has the minimal requirments no ref. No kettle .the breakfast isn't that much i think it would be better to take the room without breakfast .when we requested extra shampoo the houskeeping sent a used one this wasn't nice but except this housekeeping was fast and ok.

Booked this hotel on hotwire as the rooms are cheaper, but you don't know what you've got until you've booked and paid for, which then it becomes unrefundable. Booked it based on the price and location was good, but after being at the hotel I'm not so sure I agree. I think £650 for a week is a lot of money to pay for a 'budget' hotel.

After getting off the aerobus at about midnight, we tried to use a map from the airport to help us find the hotel. Was so difficult to find this hotel at night time with two massive suitcases and being new to a city, I think it was about 1am by the time we got to the hotel, so if you are arriving at night, familiarise yourself with the location on google maps so you know what your looking for and probably best to print your own map.

After checking in, we were shown to our room which I believe was more than inadequate, there was no shower guard on the shower, we could hear the electricity running through the walls, and after making a deal to sort it out in the morning we got into bed to try and sleep, only to be able to hear the lift going up and down continuously through the night, even though the lift was located on the opposite side to us, right down the middle of the corridor!

We kicked off a fuss the next morning and asked to have a look at some of the other rooms, which we were allowed to do, however many of the rooms still had the same problem.
We ended up in a room, where the shower guard was broken, the wardrobe door was broken, we could still hear the electricity round the room, but could no longer hear the lift (which makes no sense because we ended up closer to it). The bottom of the door looked as though it was falling apart and all the wood was splintering off, which wasn't a good look.

One more thing with the room, one of the nights we had been out for a few drinks and me and my partner came back and had a bit of a play fight in the room, and I pushed him towards the wall, to which he fell into the wall, the wall ACTUALLY dipped in, and he bounced back off the wall! I know obviously you shouldn't be play fighting in your mid twenties, but at the same time, if I want to have a play fight with my boyfriend, I think the hotel walls should be strong enough to support someone if they were to fall! This made for a great laugh and whilst after that, we were a bit scared of what else was wrong with the room, it was probably one of the highlights of the trip.

For the price you pay for a 3* hotel in the city centre, I definitely think I was ripped off and if it wasn't for the rooftop pool, they wouldn't be able to charge half as much as they do. I think people may also complain about the beds being hard, but after spending 10 hours each day walking around the city and being busy continously, a hard bed was just what I needed!

Compared to the hotels we stayed on whilst travelling in other places, we payed an awful lot of money for this hotel and whilst the location is good, it isn't great. I found that compared to other places the staff weren't as friendly as others were and the only good thing about the hotel was the rooftop pool, which was amazong in August heat.

I wish the staff had been a bit more friendly, we spent 6 out of seven days coming out of the hotel, walking left, going down about 3 blocks and then going right to get to the metro which took about 15 mins when in actual fact, we could have come out of the hotel, crossed straight over and gone left and then at the crossroads turned right and we would have been at the metro in about 3 mins! We asked numerous times if there was a quicker way to get to the metro to which the answer was no.

The best part of the hotel was the last night they had a mohijto party on the top floor from 11pm to 3am and those cocktails were AMAZING. it was run by the maintenance guy from the sister hotel which seemed a bit weird, but he was super friendly and made our last night of our trip a memorable way to end it.

haha, and I've just filled in the rating section only to discover that apparently there is a fitness centre and a spa?! If there is, we were not once told about it by staff! We very much enjoyed our time in Barcelona, but next time I would rather pay more money for a more central better quality hotel.

Booked this hotel for a September visit. The hotel was fairly easy to walk to thanks to the block layout of the streets.

Our room was clean with the basis amenties. Bed was comfortable and all the basics (spare pillows, hairdyer and safe) were available.

The staff were polite and we were able to use their refrigerator - we didn't pay for the buffet breakfast as there was a 'subway' style fast food outlet across the road (there is also a supermarket along the same road).

We were able to walk to Las Ramblas in 30 minutes top and also walked along the Diagonal to Sagrada Familia (still not complete!). It was nice walk and along the way we came across some nice cafes and restaurant.

The cost and location were the deciding factor when choosing this hotel. It was fairly close to a metro stop (and a 25 minute walk from Sants) and had some lovely cafes around it. The swimming pool on the top floor offered some amazing views of Barcelona. The room was quite good and clean. We opted for getting our own breakfast and this did not disappoint. The staff were generally friendly and helpful.

Ours stay got off to a bad start. We found the hotel on the web through Trivago and booked the cheapest available deal two rooms for four days through the German company Navelar/Clever-Hotels.com, only to find when we arrived that they had taken our payment on booking, cancelled our reservation three weeks after booking, not paid the hotel and then gone into liquidation, meaning that we had to pay again. Unfortunately they did not have two rooms for the four nights we were expecting to stay. However, the staff, especially Anna, were tremendous and found us rooms in the hotel and their sister hotel, Aston Junior around the corner, for the four nights , even moving our bags back and forward between the hotels. If only the rooms had been as good as Anna.

In our first room in Sunotel Aston for two nights, the bed was hard, the TV had a very small 15 inch screen and the only English speaking TV programme was CNN, there was no room safe and the shower screen was broken, making it difficult to get in and out of the bath for a shower. In our second room for one night in Aston Junior two of the three shower screen panels were missing making it difficult to keep the water in the bath when showering, and it had another tiny TV. In our third room, in Sunotel Aston, it was not a case of third time lucky because, once again, the shower screen was broken and it had a another tiny TV. Coincidence or complacency?

We had to request a second pillow for each room as they didn't have them and the hotel only had one iron, so if another guest had requested it before you they didn't have one to lend you and didn't have a register to record which room they had lent it to. The front of hotel gave a different impression of what we expected on arrival compared to what we got. The reception area is good - modern, clean and tidy. The rest of the hotel is looking a little jaded with carpets in some areas in need of a good clean, and some areas could do with updating. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice, the tea and coffee in the café was good, and the free WiFi was fast enough to allow us to Skype relatives at home.

Would we stay again? No, not until they repair the shower screens, improve the TV's, and tidy the bedrooms up. The hotel is let down by lack of basic maintenance to simple things like the shower screens. If it was all as good as Anna we'd be back time and time again. Visitor's nowadays are normally well travelled, and are used to and expect higher standards, even in 'standard' hotels. Sunotel need to step up to the mark or they will really start to lose out to the competition or will lose their greatest asset, Anna.

Room Tip: Higher floors facing the back not the street have less road noise.

The only positive for this hotel is its location.
Everything else was bad. The bed is very uncomfortable. Pillow feels like a bag of straws.

The room was very small and the shower partition was broken in several places.

The air con makes strange, loud, and seemingly randomly spaced noise which does not allow you to sleep at night.

This was the worst stay i ever had in a hotel. And the price was not low!

Be warned.

Room Tip: I saw two rooms in the hotel, on different floors and they were both tiny and dark.
