“So bad had to change to a different Hotel”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

Booked this hotel as price was good including breakfast and was in an area we like. arrived on 23rd June, checked in to a room on 5th floor as we exited the lift we noticed the carpet was very badly stained in several places, not a good start, this was the same on the other floor also. Inspected room, found the bathroom dirty ,bath had cigarette burns on side and bottom. the room's wood floor was very badly marked from suitcase wheels and no effort to made to clean it. We returned to Reception explained the problem, we were shown another room on same floor, condition was no better with botched repair work done on surface to bath, returned to reception again and were shown another room on the 6th floor this was no better. we then asked to be moved to a different hotel, we were offered a choice of two, one on the ramblas and another in in a less busy part of the city, which we opted for. This Hotel is advertised as 4 star and in my opinion falls very far short of that standard. this was no better than a grubby tourist class hotel at best, would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. very disappointed.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my husband and we weren't disappointed. We arrived late into the city centre and didn't want to navigate the metro with our luggage, so we opted for a taxi, 5 Euros to the door, easy peasy! We knew we would have a view of the Sagrada Familia, but what a view...simply stunning. Like another reviewer, we got a fabulous rate for this hotel and opted to have a terrace, we were given room 803. Cleaned daily, in a modern designer style and a firm bed (which we both like)...perfect. It's around a 20 minute walk into the city (simply turn left and follow the Consell de Cent), so it's not too central, but the metro is just around the corner and there's also a bike station outside, if you fancy hiring one. Can't comment on the breakfast, as we ate elsewhere but there are loads of restaurants, tapas bars and cafes nearby, there's also several supermarkets to stock up on water, fruit and snacks.

Room Tip: Add a little extra and get a terraced room, it's worth it.

Got a great rate for this hotel..... and didn't really know what to expect.
An early start meant that our driver got us to the hotel by 10am..... our room was ready!!
7th floor..... what a view of the Sagrada. Yes, road noise but superb air-con!

A very designer style room..... and dark.... just what I like!

50m to Monumental metro station..... 2 stops and you are in central Barcelona. Perfect!

Great Staff too..... all very helpful with directions.... printing off tickets.... nothing too much trouble.

Breakfast might just let them down.... taken a basement room with no day-light.... and not a great deal of choice for 11Euros..... walk outside and try the local tapas bars!

Generally a well placed small hotel (40+ rooms). Great for the Sagrada.... Great for the Tube.

The beds are a little "firm" and after 4 days my bed at home was calling me.

Would I stay again.... YES

Room Tip: Ask for high up..... and Sagrada view

It was our first visit to Barcelona and what a good hotel to pick for the trip. We both loved the room we got and the view to Basilica de Sagrada Familia. The experience was fun all round. I will recommend this hotel to anyone. The room was clean and modern. We will definitely stay here again when we go back to Barcelona

Great location. Nice view of the spectacular Sagrada Familia Good free breakfast. Extremely dangerous shower with slanted slippery floor loose drain and it leaked thru the seal to the floor. I was in fear every shower. Mildewy too. Very hard bed. Good pillows though.

The staff was simply "great", everyone of them. We arrived early, but did not have to wait long for the room, which was large and very clean. No view of Sagrada Familia, but a very short distance from the hotel. We never did eat at the breakfast buffet, but saw the layout ones and that was very impressive. I can not say enough for the reception staff, they helped us get tickets for the museums and the Park Güell and Sacrada Familia. At our next visit, we will certainly stay at that hotel again. Must say, for European standard that hotel was grand!

I have to say i was a little disappointed with this hotel after reading such glowing reviews. The room we were given was a very small corner room on the 5th floor (502), too small i think for a couple with luggage. We did however have a view of the sagrada familia from the window so that was nice. The hotel is on the corner of a main street and as a result is very noisy from traffic even with the window closed, so we woke up a few times each night - a minor irritation for us but may bother others more. The décor is a little tired and the TV had very bad reception with only news channels in English. The MTV channel listed on the guide wasn't there - again not a big deal but would have been nice for the times we were resting/getting ready to go out.
The shower was fine, but leaked as the shower door over the bath was about 2" away from the top of the bath! Quite budget toiletries supplied, and the hairdryer (as per most hotels to be fair) was an absolute joke! Also an open vent in the bathroom meant that each evening a strong smell of cigarette smoke filled the room from somewhere - we did mention it to reception as we were heading out one evening and they said they would go up to freshen the room.
We didnt have breakfast included so cant comment on that.
Good slightly out of town location - close to the metro and about 30 min stroll into town or down to the sea, meaning you get to see a lot more of Barcelona than if you stayed more centrally.

Room Tip: ask for a room on a high floor for the views, and maybe see if you can check the size of the room be...
