“Good value for money room”
Reviewed 20 February 2011

We stayed in this hostel for 2 nights and in general were very pleased. The girls at the desk were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Only downside really was the noise at night, you could hear the underground trains going past and footsteps upstairs which kept us awake a little. There are no kitchen facilities but there are supermarkets and bakeries close by so this wasn't a problem.

The location of the hostel was quite good, it was around a 15 minute walk to La Rambla and was very close to tube stations so you could get around easily. Only thing i'd say is to be careful walking back to the hostel at night as there were some dodgy looking people around.

In general this is a good place to say if you're just looking for a good value base to explore the city from.

I travelled with 2 other girls and this was my first hostel experience, im not snobby but i usually always books hotels. And my god was it a great experience! The staff are so friendly and helpful and the hostel itself was very clean....cleaning than most hotels i have stayed in! Its close to the market and its close to le ramblas. I enjoyed staying there so much and the staff spoke fluent English which made me feel very comfortable as my spanish was not great. I have just booked in the hostel again for October as i want to take my partner to see the sights......and this will be his first hostel experience!
The only thing i would say is at night, have your wits about you because the area is not well lit and if you look vulnerable i can image that you would become a target if your a female. I personally didnt have any problems and i often went out alone.

I stayed at this hostel from 9th - 12th March for 3 nights in room 110 which is a private en suite room.
It is a small room with double bed, cupboard , chair and tv (no english channels) There is a small ensuite with shower.
The hostel has a common room with a small balcony - the common room has free internet access, 2 sofas, vending machine, tv and dvd player. They have dvds you can watch and its a good place to hang out in the evenings if you are on a budget.
The staff are friendly and always willing to help with places to go and directions etc.
The hostel is in walking distance of La Ramblas and close to Metro also the bus to Park Guell goes from opposite the hostel.
There is a lovely coffee shop on the corner called Cafeterepia (something like that) and a nice bakery next door also several supermarkets on the street.
The area can be a little dodgy at night after around 7-8pm
All in all, a good base to explore a FAB CITY!

I stayed here in February, not at the height of the tourist season thinking that it would be a little safer. Whilst the hostel was clean, with very pleasant staff and enough facilities, the area in which it was located was not great. Whilst it was close to most of the central places to see, it became somewhat seedy at night and you often had to walk along the rambla late at night or in smaller streets to get back to the hostel. We had a few bad experiences and my friend had her bag stolen just outside the hostel. We also had to spend a fortune on taxis to get back safely. I think most of our problem was that we looked very different and stood out considerably as a group of four women, even though I am a fluent spanish speaker. So, if you are travelling in a mixed group or in a couple, you will probably be fine in this hostel as there is no problem with the place itself, but more the location. I would not recommend it for single girls traveling together.

The rooms weren't big, impossible to open the windows in some of the rooms, you could ear everything that was happening in the hall , and not that many showers for the number of rooms

It looked clean, and very well located

This was my first time traveling to Europe and staying in a hostel. I had my worries of cleanliness, security, and sharing a room with strangers. But this is the best hostel!

The staff was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. I don't know how many times we bothered them but they helped us every time. I got sick one day and the cleaning lady bought me tea! !! She went to the store, made a hot cup and brought to me. I mean a home away from home. Real sweet people. The other guest were great too. Me and my friend meet alot of cool pple.

Hostel very clean. The cleaning crew came everyday. Which is a big deal to me! The rooms were brightly decorated. The terrace was awesome. Very spacious and BEAUTIFUL. Plenty of bathrooms. bring your own shampoo/conditioner/loufa. I didn't bring a converter so, my blow dryer didn't work but the staff lent me theirs and a converter. Free of charge. Just remember to return it.

Location is great. Just 5-10 minutes walking distance from Las Ramblas. Hostel located in a great area. Lots of bars and cafes right outside the door and down the street. Subway real easy to use! Would recommend it! We walked everywhere! Great City! OH, do the bike tours the first day, so you can get familiar with the city. Then spend the rest of your trip exploring. Do the Big Fat Tires tours with Keno. He's great guy, not mention cute with his Australian accent =)

Can't wait to visit again. I recommend ur stay with Paraiso Travellers hostel when in Barcelona!

Thanks, Have a GREAT TRIP!

  • Liked — The staff was great, I like the rooms, and great location.
  • Disliked — I was expecting the hostel to be a little bit cheaper, but still cheaper than a hotel and way better than the other hostels.

This is such a great place! The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. This hostel felt more like it was your own personal apartment than a hostel because it was very warm. This place is highly recommended....the location is great!! And most important IT WAS VERY CLEAN!!!
