We recently spent 5 night in this lovely, small hotel located in the Eixample barrio of Barcelona. We chose it based on the reviews posted on TripAdvisor and most of what we read prior to arriving at the hotel proved to be true once we entered our room. The hotel’s biggest advantages are the location and the frontline staff. The Eixample is conveniently close to the very centre of Barcelona yet far enough to be relatively free of tourists. There are tons of wonderful restaurants and coffee shops in the area and everything is pretty much walking distance. The staff at the hotel cannot do enough for you and are happy to help you with whatever you need. The guestrooms in Granados 83 are rather small and compact – we had a double with a balcony and while it was surely adequate for two people it would be a stretch to call it large. The bathroom was lovely and it was equipped with a huge walk-in shower which was which was great for us but may pose a problem for those who expect a bath-tub in a 4s-star hotel. The main issue with the room was the relative lack of storage space – whoever designed the rooms did not expect that people would be staying there for more than 1-2 nights. The bathroom lacked a proper towel rack/rail which prevented us from reusing our towels and being environmentally friendly as there was no room to dry them. The housekeeping seems to be the biggest issue in the hotel as we received different levels of service every day – sometimes the room was spotless, sometimes barely cleaned at all – regardless whether there was a tip waiting for the housekeeper or not. There was a dirty glass on the table waiting to be cleaned for two days – in the end I just washed it myself which is fine by me but unacceptable in a god hotel. Sometimes we got two chocolates on out pillow, sometimes only one, sometimes none at all – again, fine if you never give any at all, unacceptable if there is a lack of consistency. Still, apart from patchy housekeeping all was great and the hotel remains highly recommended to anyone looking for a great place to stay in wonderful Barcelona.
