I stayed here one night but the location is excellent right on Plaza Catalunya, the service is outstanding and the breakfast just perfect! This is a great place to stay. The price is well worth it!

This hotel has a great location right at the end of the Ramblas with easy access to the metro, main shopping streets, taxis and sights. Welcome was friendly at the reception. We had booked a standard room and received a first floor room located towards the inner “aperture/lobby” of the hotel. There was no window in the room – only a glass door which was covered by a black curtain. The door or curtain could not be opened so you couldn’t see outside or get any natural light into the room. Fortunately we were able to change rooms to the 7th floor with a great view over the plaza in front of the hotel. Room had a design hotel touch to it and included minibar and all amenities except no bathrobes. The TV was quite small but didn’t matter of course. Could have more control over the lighting of the room (not just on / off). The hotel has a trendy dining room open to the inner courtyard of the hotel. Service was hospital and friendly throughout the stay.

Would give this hotel a 3 or 4- out of 5. Can recommend due to great location and trendy rooms - as long as you get one of the good ones with a window!

Room Tip: Remember to ask for a room with a real window outside and not towards the lobby / elevators.

Location of the Olivia Plaza could not be better for sightseeing Barcelona.
Two night stay prior to joining a cruise ship, room very good, see photo, good shower plenty of pressure, very clean. As we arrived late the first evening we ate in the hotel, good choice, good service.
Exceptional friendly reception staff.
Pleasure to stay will glady return.

Fantastic location to experience the sentral parts of Barcelone. Airport bus and metrostation right outside.
Very good breakfast if you are willing to pay four time the worth.
We have stayed in rooms in top-floor. With a terrazze facing Placa Catalunya you really can enjoy a night-cap.
With room at the other side of the hotel you have a magnificent view over the old town.
But the price is far to high. For half the price you can have very, very good hotels nearby.
And don't try to make requests by e-mail. They never will answer you anyway.

Room Tip: High floor, executive rooms are very nice (but expensive)

Close but not right on top of the noisey Las Ramblas, everything is right here. Safe contemporary hotel with an interesting, charming twist of the 16th Century church walls exposed and abutting the restaurant and courtyard. Terrace Rooms (only 4) are worth the price they overlook the square and with the table and chairs it is nice additional living/dining space. Only complaint, for which hotel has no control, is the collective group of Algerian women begging along the sidewalk (think SlumDog!). On the street watch your bags & pockets...gypies, tramps & thieves! Tour bus has 3 routes - we did a 2 day pass and it was well worth it - being able to hop on/off.

Room Tip: Although there are only 4 rooms with a terrace, if you can afford the upgrade it is well worth it.

Just returned from a short break in the Olivia Plaza. The welcome at the reception was first class and the staff were pleasant and helpful with directions and recommendations. The gentleman who checked us in was able to call me by name the following day. A nice touch. Breakfast was great...a little pricey but worth it if you want to linger a while and get set up for the day. We did!
I think for reviewers to grumble about price in that location is unfair - just try a street cafe on La Rambla and see what you are asked to pay for a glass of coke (5.5 Euro in one case)!!!
We were upgraded to a superior grade room without asking and without charge. It was 5th floor with a view of the square. Extremely comfortable king size bed and no sleep problems. Great shower etc.
Yes, the room lighting controls could be improved and the window coverings could be less than ideal on lower floors. Also, some English language tv channels (other than BBC news) would be welcome; but, in all a lovely stay in a superb location. A first class introduction to beautiful Barcelona.

Room Tip: The view of the square is a real plus at this location...ask when you book.

My husband and I stayed at Olivia Plaza for four nights after a cruise.

Pros:
- location (very close to hop on hop off tour bus stop, airport bus stop and few steps away to La Rambla.)
- modern hotel
- free wireless internet access

Cons (minor points):
- provided only two big and two medium size towels
- provided just several tissue paper. (my husband had an allergy and tissue paper wasn't enough)
- lights (either completely off or all on)
- a lots of dust on bedside night table

Our room was on level 2 facing Placa Catalunya. It was quiet at night in the room so we didn't have trouble sleeping.

We will definitely stay this hotel again when we go to Barcelona.
