“Wonderful hotel in great location!”
Reviewed 3 October 2009

The location is perfect - on the Plaza Catalunya at the top of the Ramblas. All the buses - airport and tourist - stop here, and there are subway stops too.
The hotel is gorgeous - all modernist and yet comfortable. We paid a bit extra for an upgrade so that we would have a good view onto the plaza and also so that we had the enclosed bathroom which was great - big soaker tub, separate shower stall with rain shower - lovely!
There is a great coffee bar next door, and in the opposite direction a Hard Rock Cafe. Great eats at both, and at the Pizza Marzano at the top of the Ramblas.
The front desk staff were great especially when my husband's wallet was stolen on the Ramblas. Leave your wallet in the hotel safe and take just the cash you can afford to lose.
Other than the pickpocket, we had a great time in Barcelona!

Anyone who has stayed here will agree that the hotel is outstanding, looks great inside, beds lovely and comfy, staff really helpful and we had a lovely view from the 6th floor overlooking the gothic quarter from the back of the hotel.

Brilliant location for the city, with metro, busses, shops etc.

My only word of warning is during the night, you can hear everything inside the hotel.

I am not a light sleeper yet I was woken up on all the 3 nights that we stayed there. From the closing of doors in the adjoing rooms to people having showers at 4.00am. My partner even said he could hear the lifts bell bong when they arrived.

We both actually woke up thinking someone was in our room the noise it was so loud!

It could just have been bad luck on our part, with the room. But you have been warned!

we have stayed there for 8 nights in suite deluxe and that was fantastic, the suite was very clean & modern decorated ,the staff was so helpful specially Sivlia, but i think the other people in reception could be more friendly that they were(if they want to consider them perfect but they were ok!).Location was great ,near to everywhere you wanna see,we aksed reseption for renting bikes & there was bike rental near & that was great experience for us to riding the bike all over the city, breakfast was great but expensive you can find many places for breakfast near by the hotel with half price of the hotel.the internet connection was good & I suggest to people that if there are 3 or more choose suite that is more comfortable than the standard room with extra bed. we enjoy our stay there & if I want to go Barcelona again Im sure that I will choose Olivia plaza again ,

I have very high expectations as I work in the Tourism Industry and Im used to staying in top hotels and on a regular bases. We really enjoyed our 4 day mid week stay at this hotel as the location was excellent. You get the Aerobus from the airport to Placa Catalunya and the hotel is on Placa Catalunya so you have a 30 second walk across the round and you are there. Hassle free. If you stay in this hotel you are in the thick of the action at the top of the ramblas.

First impressions were great as the reception area is slick and the staff were very efficient. After reading other reviews we requested a room on one of the upper floors and with a view of the square, we got a room on the 8th floor which an excellent view of the a square.

We paid £474 for four nights room only. A bit more than we had planned on spending but its was well worth it. We booked it through Tripadvisor.

Things I loved about the room
Floor to ceiling window with amazing view and total black out blinds
The Colour Scheme
The Open plan bath room. This might not suit everyone. Its unusual for a hotel bedroom so I quite like it.
The Massive Double Bed. Its hard to get double beds in Spain as they usually do two singles.
The Breakfast was nice and sitting on the terrance is very pleasant but at €19 we found it too expensive so we only did it one morning. Although it you dont do bfast in the hotels in Spain its hard get a good bfast anywhere else as they Spanish dont really do bfast its mainly coffee and pastry.
2 PCs with free internet access

Highlights of our Trip
Fat Tire Bike Tours - Check it out as an alternative to the Bus Tour, great way to see the city. 4 hour tour €20 each.

Dont stay anywhere else. Pros: right in the middle of Plaza Catalunya-- a huge hub of action--food-- people--shopping. 2 minute walk to the Ramblas-- close to the best shopping areas in town, markets, restaurants. Close to subways that go to the beach or other parts of town. Everything is walkable. The hotel itself is ultra-modern but not obnoxious. Rooms are clean with great views of the city. Enjoy!

This has got to be the best value for the money in Barcelona! And what a GREAT location in Plaza Catalunya! Great food, service, location. It has its own charm and unique modern ambiance - very comfortable. It was a nice place to call home for a week. Neat outdoor eating area for breakfast and internet center available on second floor for those of us who don't like carrying laptops when we travel.

This hotel's central location is great to explore Barcelona on foot. And surprisingly quiet. We also enjoyed the space, layout and decor of our Superior-Room on the 5th floor. All the staff were very friendly. Although we did find reception's local knowledge was lacking. Would definitely stay here again.
