“Modern Hotel”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

Modern hotel with great rooms. They were not big but have a good bed and a great bathroom. The hotels is very modern. Receptionist was nice, roomservice was decent but nothing special. For the purpose of this trip and the fact I arrived late and left early I found it a perfect hotel.

I absolutely LOVED this hotel! The room was spacious, had a massive window and the decor was the best I've seen in a hotel. All members of staff were helpful and polite which is always a bonus! I must admit, I was worried about the location when I chose this hotel as I didn't want to spend my holidays stuck on buses/trains, but that wasn't the case. The nearest metro station is at a 10 minutes walk from the hotel and it stops at Las Ramblas which was great! The only negative feedback i have from my stay is the air con, it just didn't seem to work at all and there were times were you could feel a draft of hot air in the room which made it uncomfortable when sleeping.

i currently stay 3 nights at this hotel for this hotel. we book for 2 hotel rooms. my parents' room is good. however there are always problems in my room. first night (yesterday), the shower body kept falling out. the housekeeping fixed it but then fell out again. so we moved to another room tonight, they put us in a room for disabled people. however, the drainage system doesn't work so the water always leaks. a waste of few towels. we have complained (again), so they say they will move us to another room tomorrow. the thing is this is the first time ever i complain about my hotel room.. i am so disappointed..

service staff is good. some don't speak english. breakfast is satisfying. there are always fruits and welcome drink available in the front desk, which is a good thing.

As soon as we stepped into the hotel we were looked after by the staff who were very friendly, courteous and informative. The room was spotless, the fridge was full of beverages and the cleaning crew were amazing.
Highly recommend this hotel to ANYONE who doesn't want to stay in the centre and not too far out of town. The nearest station is Sarria only 5 stops from the main town square (Catalunya)

Wonderful City, wonderful people, wonderful place

Room Tip: All the rooms are amazing

The premises of this hotel are very nice. It's spacious, modern and relatively new. Also the rooms are quite large with wall-width windows. The bed was comfortable and seriously huge!

The staff of this hotel is incredibly nice but there's just not enough of employees there to actually make it a 4* hotel. Everyone was constantly seriously busy and you always had to ask for everything - more food at the breakfast, the hair dryer for the room, cleaning of the pool etc. In our opinion, these things should be done without asking. It's definitely not an issue of the staff not doing their work because they were really working very hard but one employee in the breakfast room preparing the food, bringing more food, cleaning, serving etc. is just an impossible combination for a hotel of this size. it was the same with everything else, too. At some point you just get tired of asking the things that should be taken care of without asking. It felt like the hotel was trying to save on absolutely everything! The 10€ breakfast was such a disappointment... they were out of everything, the fruit was unripe, the omelet and bacon was cold (!!!) and croissants were crispy!!!

Also the walls were quite thin but the sleep quality was good.

The pool area was nice even though on one morning the pool was filthy with leafs and bird feathers in it.

All in all, okay hotel but far from 4*. More like an average 3 with not enough employees.

The location is ok. 10 minute walk to metro. Not for 1st timers in Barcelona but great if you want to explore also other areas of Barcelona, for example Tibidabo.

Stayed at this hotel for a week. The location is really nice ,away from the tourist spots and a short walk to the shops is great. The restaurants have a high standard i thought.
The hotel in my opinion is tucked away you could easily miss it. I was placed on the second floor which was nice just in the middle. The room is lovely and bright and modern mini bar expensive, shower lovely. Room service food is not that great and could be a lot better being 4* The staff are very attentive and informative.
I did not have a kettle in my room as i was staying a week, the morning receptionist got one sent up in no time.
The receptionists, some of them speak English
The beds are so comfy
Easy access to the centre
The rooms are spotless.
The rooms are nice and bright.

Down side to this lovely hotel is:

Food not great from room service.
Walls are far too thin, even though the doors are lovely and big you can hear everything to the cleaners talking to next door having a pee.
Room was facing a block of flats which looked empty ,until i saw some one having a peek, through their window,my blinds were up and there was nothing to shield the glass. Not much privacy! i pulled them down when i saw some one peeking to prove a point.
The breakfast bar isn't that great really for a 4*
20.30 when meals start in the evening i thought this is far too late.Mind you 12Euros for buffet is ok so shouldn't complain.
Some switches don't work but there is always the other side of the bed if your not fussy.
Even though the pool area was deserted the sun was shinning but could not find anything to sit on.
Despite being in a safe area ,the reception there was always people missing, to easy to rob the place.

I do agree with some of the other reviews. The hotel is looking a bit tired ,a bit of paint here and there on the wood work would make a world of difference for that reason only giving it a 3.

However would stay here again if they sound proofed the walls:-)

Room Tip: Second floor was ok for me which is a double room.

We stayed for three nights. Rates are a bargain. The uptown location will not suit first time tourists to Barcelona - we wanted to stay uptown to be near friends, and also because there are zero tourists up in this area. The surrounding areas are attractive - the upscale neighbourhoods of Barcelona are on all sides of the hotel. The location of the hotel should determine whether you stay here or not - if you need bars/restaurants/shops/sights on your doorstep, do not consider staying here, unless you want the outdoor pool (see below).

The hotel itself - a lot of glass, including one full wall in the room, and partially to the bathroom. Bed quite hard but v comfortable. Don't stay here if you have problems with lots of fiddly buttons in the room because there are switches everywhere for everything. Blackout blinds appreciated. Service in reception friendly and helpful. A relatively small hotel - about 50 rooms.

The hotel goes for a 'design' theme, and this is a little hit and miss. Still at the price I paid I wasn't going to complain. Everything in the room worked fine for us - except for us flooding the bathroom everytime we took a shower (the shower screens don't meet the wall...).

Unfortunately pool wasn't open while we were there. The fact that there is outdoor space - i.e. garden area and pool - is a great plus in Barcelona if you're there during the hot summer months, or travelling with a family.
