“Great Hotel Choice”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

Located close to one of the world's top tourist spots, the hotel is naturally handy for all local transport, in particular the excellent hop-on-hop-off tourist buses and the even better Metro. Barcelona's public transport is top notch, as it needs to be in such a large city, and cheaper than most.

For the price the hotel has no shortcomings. It's modern, clean, comfortable and blessed with very capable staff, as evidenced by the following anecdote.

Having reserved our final morning to visit Gaudi's eponymous masterpiece, we were dismayed by a queue so long that joining it would have put our airport time in jeopardy. So I took some local advice and nipped back to the hotel to book online. A long story, it was a far from straightforward process which culminated in the ticket collection details being emailed without first being shown on the website. Not normally a problem, but an unlikely set of circumstances meant that the details were sent to an address not accessible for 24 hours. Nothing for it, I thought, but to write off the 70 quid and do without visiting the Sagrada Familia. But one of the receptionists noticed I had a problem and insisted on calling the location's admin office; despite my scepticism, within 10 minutes he had printed out the tickets he got emailed to the hotel and our morning was saved. Bravo, Ignacio, you're a star! I hope your manager reads this.

If I visit Barcelona again I'll look no further than the Ibis for my accommodation.

First impressions of the hotel were positive. The receptionist was friendly, and the lobby was clean and well appointed. The rooms were basic, but again clean. So far, so good. The local area had a mixture of cafes, supermarkets and places to eat. It was about 30 minutes walk to central Barcelona, and is also close to the tourist bus route for the Sagrada Familla. Certainly handy if you plan to use the buses (they are well worth it if you want to take in the main attractions). However, after a long day, I was not so pleased with the paper thin walls. We could hear everything around us, and there was me thinking my girlfriend was snoring ! No, it was the guy next door ! So, a good hotel for those on a budget, but bring the earplugs !

Large room, very quiet, location near Sagrada Familia (good for metro) and direct buses to Park Guel, Rambla, Monjuic, beach, big stores, museums, restaurants. Free high speed WIFI and very good A/C. Day staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful; night staff (when we arrived) polite but basic. Breakfast was copious and sufficiently varied day to day. I had intentionally asked for and got an internal room on a high floor. The only negative points were not enough clothes hangers and limited storage space because the mini-bar was installed in the cupboard. Generally very good value for money, and I'd go there again next time in Barcelona..

Room Tip: Don't take room behind the lift shaft (eg 704) -- the window is small and visible to people in t...

Really good rooms, location was not far away from Sagrada Familia and the metro.....lots of little cafes....we really loved this spot and the easy access to the metro...the major advantage was the Sagrada Familia of course! Would go back.

The hotel got miss sold to me be the travel agent at low cost holidays saying it has a view of the sagrada familiar. It's two blocks away there's no view. We stayed in room 702 it had a private terrace. It's a very basic hotel but does the job. The breakfast we payed 6 euros each,Again was ok.

The receptionist the lady with short hair was very helpful and polite.

When we checked out the receptionist (black gentleman I didn't get his name)
Was really rude didn't not want to get at all just shrugged his shoulders and go out and get a taxi. Very rude this has resulted in me giving the hotel a bad review

I have spoken directly with him and his version of the event doesn't match with yours. I apologize if you feel may have been ill-served by a member of my team. We work very hard to make all our customers happy. You can check the opinions in TripAdvisor and you will see that the costumers are really happy with the kindness of our employees.

Thank you very much.

The hotel is situated just a couple of blocks from the stunning Cathedral. When we checked in the staff were so helpful with maps etc, showing us the places to visit and the ones not worth visiting. The room and bathroom were really spacious and the mini bar prices were really reasonable. The buffet breakfasts was one of the best I have ever had with hot foods, hams, cheese, fruit, cereals, cakes, the list would be endless if I was to list everything available. So all in all and excellent hotel. We are planning to go back to Barcelona which is just so amazing and would definitely stay at the Sagrada Familia again.
