Period property in a very good location

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Oct 2023via mobile
The hotel is a beautiful building in a very good location near the port, Columbus monument, Las Rambla and the Gothic Quarter. The former main entrance is particularly beautiful. It's a shame that some of the interior areas have been overly modernised so that they are now not in keeping with the period of the property, even though functional for their purpose- e.g. the overly modern reception. My room was clean and had a very nice spatious bathroom. My booking was for a room with a double bed and a single bed, however I received a room with three single beds. The staff during my stay were helpful. I would stay again.
Date of stay: October 2023
Room Tip: It is very close to the metro station.

We stayed in the hotel for four nights and all I can say is that it was a great experience! The staff was extremely helpful and nice! Especially the girls in the breakfast room were amazing! I would recommend it to anyone interested staying in the heart of the Gothic area, a breath away from Barceloneta!!

What a mistake, out of all the hotels here. Rock hard beds, we were refused a room with a double and no help whatsoever, surly unhelpful staff, and paper thin walls so no sleep at all. Generally very basic and super expensive. Would highly recommend avoiding this place.

Room tip: Avoid this hotel.

We came with a group of 25 from Greece.
The good parts where the breakfast buffet&the location(near las ramblas and Barceloneta)
The bad parts are THE STAFF. The front desk are so unfriendly. The cleaner was not polite at all. She threw away my Gucci shopping bag with the Gucci box and certificates that I had all together next to my bed. After arguing with the reception they found the shopping bag then suddenly they found my box but without my certificate instead the box was full of maps and tickets(I was scocked and no one apologised).
At 10.01 a lady came at breakfast SCREAMING that 10.00 the buffet closes.
I work in tourism industry and this is so un professional.
The rooms are small and smell so bad
The wifi poor and weak.
Last but not least we were caring our suitcases to the stairs . OMG
I don’t recommend it!

Our room was small, dark and cold with very basic facilities. Not nearly good enough for a 4-star hotel. Lamps were not working and the bathroom sink was blocked. We reported these things to Reception but no-one bothered to respond.

On the plus side, the room was clean, the staff were pleasant, and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

This could be a great hotel with some improvements to the bedrooms.
