This is exactly what I expected for the money. Ok it was lacking in personality and also a decent mirror in the bedroom. It's on a noisy street but the double glazing works and so does the air conditioning. The staff were absolutely amazing could not have been more helpful and the rooms were clean. It was inexpensive for a city break. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on the food. Would go back it's close to everything.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Otherwise it's very basic, a bit like living in the middle of an office block and all a bit tired and gloomy, with a very odd reception process. Not terribly comfortable and not highly recommended, unless you have very little money to spend and low expectations.

The staff were very helpful, and the hotel is very well situated. However, this is a budget type hotel which is difficult to find and is in a very noisy street. The facilities are basic, but the hotel is VERY well situated for Passeig De Gracia train station either to tour the city or get the train to the airport. There are also loads of good restaurant and tapas bars nearby, and the famous Passeig de Gracia is on your doorstep.

Room Tip: The entry to the hotel is via a single door (no 281) it is like an entry to a flat and must be acces...

We stayed for several days the first week in October, 2013. The hotel and staff were very good. No problem with speaking English at the front desk. Two particular highlights: to our surprise, we had the best meal in Barcelona at the hotel's restaurant. Very good food, service, and cost compared to the many other restaurants and tapa bars we tried. Would highly recommend it. Another great point: Great coffee shop in the subway station right outside the hotel. Just head down the stairs of the subway and take a left at the first junction. It is on the left just before you go through any stiles.

Room Tip: We enjoyed a room overlooking the street. The windows open and it was nice to watch the sights. Ou...

This hotel has a low star rating but it deserves more recognition. It was clean, friendly and located in a nice neighborhood. The metro rail and bus lines were right outside the hotel. The thing that brought my ratings to the top were the hotel staff who didn't seem to mind that my spanish was poor, they always had a smile and patience to listen and answer all of our many requests.
This is the kind of stay that makes you want to return to Spain.

Room Tip: Located near the Sea, a 20 min walk and you are there, also the public transit system was great and...

The receptionists were freindly, helpful and very informative about places to go and things to see.
We had a twin room which was very clean and valeted daily. However, there was a lot of noise from fromoutside.
Location was not the best, too far from most of the main tourist attractions, although there were metro stations and bus stops immediately outside the hotel.

Dear guest,

Thanks for write your review in this page. It is important for us know the opinion of our customers in order to improve our services.

Our staff is always friendly because we love our job and we enjoy it. However, it's great to read your good opinion about our team and our kind attention.

We are sorry if you heard a lot of noise from outside. We are located in Aragó Street, in the city center, just near Passeig de Gracia. This is a busy area and sometimes outside noise is unavoidable. I hope you saw all the windows are new and unsound proofed, so is supposed to not be noisy inside, but Barcelona is a noisy street and if you are not used to it can disturb. I hope you could take a good rest, at least.

About location, we do not understand your comment. Maybe you are a little confused about the location of the hotel. Barcelona City Hotel is located in the city center. One minute walking away from Passeig de Gracia, 50 meters away from one of Gaudi's masterpieces Casa Battló, five minutes away from Plaça Catalunya or Las Ramblas and near of the most important places of the city. Passeig de Gracia station, one of the main transportation hubs of the city is just in front of the hotel.

Thanks again for your feedback and we wait for your next visit in any of Bcn City Hotels' accommodations!

Kind regards,

Stayed for my husbands 40th bithday treat , when arriving to the hotel the staff were very friendly, they warned us about the dangers of pick pockets and to be careful . We arrived at 1 pm and couldnt check in until 3pm but there is a room to keep luggage locked away at the start and end of your stay. The room was better than expected we had one if the 9th floor suites with a fantastic view of the city which you can also get from the rooftop terrace. Breakfast is buffett style between 8-11am which we enjoyed , location is excellent for the tube station which is right next to the hotel not far to any of the main tourist attractions .
