I was very disappointed with this hotel. I was supposed to have king bed but the room had no air conditioning. I had to complain several times until he finally came to the room (over an hour and we were to meet others in our group) and then he argued there was air moving...yes the fan was blowing but it was blowing warm air. I finally convinced his to change our room. I had to move suit cases myself, only gave me one key so no air until we were in room (38 C outside) and provided no comp even though our new room was significantly smaller and only had two single beds. Will never stay here again!!

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for your comment. We do really take critics very seriously.

Our procedure in case of a technical problem that we can solve, is first try to fix in maximum 2 hours (Our maintenance manager is available 24 h. all year round), otherwise reception has the instructions to propose guests another room. In case the hotel is fully booked, an economical compensation is made, and all receptionist are aware of this procedure.

If I knew the date, I could find out why our procedure did not work.

Thank you again for bringing up to us this problem.

Best regards from Barcelona

Anna Castan

I stayed in this hotel with my 18 year old son. We have stayed in Barcelona many times visiting friends and have been lucky enough to find some really lovely hotels, this one is up with them all! Friendly staff, great location, rooms clean and fresh and the great added bonus of the lovely pool on the roof! Great alue for money, I hope it stays that way. If you want something that ticks all the boxes, this the hotel for you!

Stayed at Catedral mid September. We arrived early a were able to check in.Very welcoming front desk and helpfull.Hotel is in a great position and close to Front, Ramblas,Placa Real and other sights.Rooms are clean and modern as is the rest of the hotel. One night the rain was heavy and we were able to borrow umberellas and also a nice touch are bicycles that can be used free of charge.
Only down side was the charge for sachets of tea and coffee in the room.
Would use this hotel again.

The hotel is styled as a boutique hotel with modern decor and well laid-out public areas. Our room was very smart, comfortable and quiet; the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well designed, with good selection of toiletries.

The pool on the roof was perhaps the greatest feature of the hotel - a welcome respite from the heat of the city! It is a decent size given the location, and although there were only a few loungers, we were able to find a free one every time we tried. Even the view from the pool is interesting - a mixture of residential rooftops, with a few older buildings.

The service was excellent. Everybody we dealt with was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is well located, with easy access by walking or metro to all the sights. Only 5-10 minute walk to Las Ramblas, Placa Catalunya and the Picasso musem.

The free tour of the Gothic District on Sunday morning was a real bonus - very informative, and great to walk around in a small group of only 8 people. I would definitely recommend taking an hour to do this if you are staying on a Sunday or Wednesday.

We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, preferring to try local places. I would recommend Buenas Migas for good coffee and pastries - just walk down the alley to the left of the Cathedral (as you face it); when you reach the back of the Cathedral, Buenas Migas is on the corner.

Hotel Catedral was the perfect location for exploring the city, and we will definitely return.

In the heart of the city. Close to everything. Great boutique style. The Spanish (the Catalonians) have a great sense of style and beauty and it is really captured well is this hotel. Very sexy, Christina Barcelona.

We had a great time in Barcelona and when you go to a city, one aspect that can make your stay perfect perfect is the hotel. This was one of this cases. The staff at the Barcelona Catedral is friendly, always looking to be of help, the breakfast has a great choice and well, the restaurant at night is a blast! Also the rooms are modern, clean and highly comfortable. When things are bad one has to say, when things are great, one has also to say!

We recently stayed at the Bacelona Catedral for 4 nights with our 2 year old son. I had high hopes for this hotel since it was rated #18 on tripadvisor. I have to say I was a little dissapointed. This hotel is four stars but I would say it's closer to three stars. When we arrived (with a young child), we were automatically given a smoking room, we were never asked for our preference. In today's world, a hotel should not presume (and I believe few do) that a person would prefer a smoking room unless otherwise specified. We went right back to reception and asked for a non-smoking room. We were told that the hotel was very full but they would get us a non smoking room. Now, you either have the non smoking room or not. Why the lame excuse? We got to our room and it was really hot inside. The air does not come on unless you are actually IN the room and have the key place inside the holder adjacent to the entrance! It took a few hours to cool the room down but even then, the AC was not very powerful at all. In addition, the hotel is so cheap, as soon as the sun goes down, they turn off the AC in the lobby and general hotel areas. When you arrive back from dinner to your hotel, be prepared to be just as hot inside as it was outside. A couple of more odd things. The room did not come with a "do not disturb" sign. We called the front desk and a security guard (?) brought us a sign. The following morning we left the room as kept the do not distrub sign up as we did not want housekeeping to come into our room. They came in anyway and they removed the extra key from the slot that powers the room so we once again arrived in a hot room and waited a few hours for it to cool down. We advised the front desk of this and hoped for better the following day but yet again, same scenario. The final blow was the day we checked out. We packed up our stuff walked to the elevator and waited, and waited for the elevator to come. Mind you, it was early and the AC was not really running in the hallways yet and we just stood there sweating. My husband finally walked down the stairs to see what was going on. We were advised that the elevator was broken. I understand that this happens, but a sign advising guest of this and a little help down the stairs with your bags would have been nice.

Now, what I did like about the hotel was the location. It is centrally located yet it is very quiet. Since we traveled with our toddler, it was also nice to have a hot water boiler in the room. The rooms were clean and the staff were pleasant enough. If this hotel was selling rooms for 80 Euro's a night, I may have been able to deal with these mishaps, but when I'm paying 130 Euro's a night, I expect more.
