“Central but Peaceful!!!!”
Reviewed 10 July 2012

The H10 Casanova is a lovely place to stay.

Reception
The area is lovely and clean and very contemporary. The staff are ever so helpful and really do anything that they can. There is also the hotel bar near the reception area which is also very nice to have a quick drink before heading out for dinner or a nice cup of tea after a lovely dinner!!!

Rooms
Pros
The rooms are really nice and newly decorated.
The shower is massive and you could probably fit like 6 people in there with no effort at all. Although some people complain about the water pressure we were perfectly fine and I would love to have that shower at home.
Our room had a lovely balcony and it was really nice to let the evening breeze into the room.

Cons
Coming from Britain, its considered almost a necessity to have a kettle, tea, coffee, iron and ironing board in the room. There was no facility for a kettle or tea and coffee in the room which was not a good thing for us. We have to ask for the iron and ironing board everyday of our stay which was a bit of a pain. Also due to the rest of Europe still allowing indoor smoking the hallways had a stale smoke smell which didn't really affect our room but it wasn't a nice smell when in the hall way.

There is a rooftop pool and bar - which is perfect for the day or night.

The hotel is also a ten minute walk to Placa Catluyna which is what the brits would consider the centre of town. From here you can catch the tourist buses and also find the top of La Rambla. We loved the location of the hotel as you were close enough to have everything you need at your footsteps but far enough to have peace and quiet at night.

All in all a fab place to stay!!!!

The hotel looks great, the french lady at the reception is extremely nice. Although when checking-in all our requests weren't taken into consideration so we had to demand for that. The rooms are spacious and clean & the bathroom was magnificent. One of the receptionist was extremely rude especially when we asked for towels to go to the beach - I wonder how a 4stars hotel(a huge chain H10) never gives beach towels in Barcelona... and when we asked for one by saying "This is the first hotel we stay in that doesn't give beach towel although its situated in a city thats located on the beach", the guy at the reception replied with "Ok sir, this will be the first hotel then"- Extremely rude. The hotel was in easy walking distance you just have to know you were around Barcelona and its metros its easier if you go down a "Universitat metro stop" and walk.

Room Tip: Make sure your requests are respected to the full and try as much as possible to stay away from the...

H10 was stop 12 of our honeymoon. After a short walk from an aerobus stop (most convenient way to get to Barcelona city from the airport) a porter collected our luggage and we were checked in. Reception were english speaking and helpful, giving us a map and advice on the best way to see the sites. Location is just a few blocks from the main street of La Rambla as well as a couple Gaudi buildings. University metro station is also close.

Room was modern and clean with a huge dual shower which will be fun for honeymooners. There is a luggage bench, safe as well as other useful furnishings. No free wifi but there is a single workstation near reception. A shallow pool and new terrace bar recently opened with a gym under construction at the time.

Our room happened to be at the back of the hotel, so it was very quiet with no traffic noise to disturb us. The ajustable air-conditioning was a real benefit after a hot day of sightseeing. On arrival there were a couple of very minor problems in the room; we could not use the bathroom sink and a light-fitting was broken. We told reception and the items were dealt with very effeciently. All the amenities were excellent. Breakfast was quite expensive, compared to what was commonly available in the area - but the quality was very good indeed. The hotel was very convenient for buses and the Metro. It was an excellent base for exploring the city. We felt - in all - that this hotel and its friendly, professional staff was a very good choice. Our stay in Barcelona was a real pleasure.

The H10 is in a great location. Just a short stroll from the Aerobus "Universitat" stop and Las Ramblas. The hotel was quiet, well maintained, and modern. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. We loved the rooftop bar and small pool with a view across the city, it made a great meeting place for other members of our party. The hotel is close to many wonderful restaurants especially up Passage de Catalunya and Gracia. We especially recommend "Cerveceria Catalana."
We would definitely stay again.

We stayed for a long weekend in June. The hotel was good, especially as it was a bargain being one of Expedia's secret hotel deals. It was clean and modern, and the staff very friendly and helpful.

Beds were comfortable, and despite our room being on the second (lowest for bedrooms) floor, it was too hot to have the window open so the traffic on the main road didn't disturb us. The aircon was efficient and quiet. Bathroom was brilliant - a bath and ceiling-rose-shower arrangement.

The only slight niggle was that it was described as being in the Eixample, which it is, but only just! It's slightly west from the University. That said, you can still walk to the top of Las Ramblas in 15 minutes.

The bars and restaurants around the hotel are basic, so if you want decent dining, you'll need to take a walk.

Avoid the hotel bar unless you're feeling rich - gin and tonic about £7. Similarly, at €15, the breakfast is pricey - go up the road (right out of the hotel, and about 100 yards up the road on the opposite side) to the suberb Escriba emporium and you will be very pleased with yourself (see separate review on here).

A comfortable hotel, and a great introduction to an amazing and beautiful city.

Room Tip: If you want to open the window, the higher up you are, the quieter it is. The hotel advertises a ne...
