“Beats on the rooftop & the seethrough bathroom!”
Reviewed 5 October 2011

The hotel itself does exactly what you need when in barcelona. Lovely rooms that are very comfortable. Where it excels though is that it provides you with a lovely rooftop that acts as a suntrap throughout the day giving you the perfect place to relax after a day walking around the city. The seethrough glass bathrooms in the hotel are a nice touch, if you like that sort of thing. Great staff, who are always willing to recommend good places in the area. A small word of warning, URGELL, where the hotel is isn't easy to say if your not Spanish so cabs can be a bit tricky.

found hotel very easy upon our first trip to barcelona. the staff were all very friendly & helpful - jonas & daniella especially - answered all questions & gave us some handy tips.the room was very clean & tidy , beds made daily & towels changed as & when we wished. all transport links easily accessable - used metro( 2 mins from hotel ), bus service & taxi without any problems and all very affordable. very modern, stylish hotel would stay again & will recommend to all. our stay was september 24th to 28th - we had a blast , lovvvvvveddd barcelona & saw george michael in concert - wished we were still there!!!!!!

Room Tip: could hear a little road noise , but did not disturb us.

We stayed at hotel soho on our recent trip to Barcelona Sept 16. I spent many hours researching hotels in Barcelona, ended up choosing Hotel Soho and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The most important things to me were wifi access in the rooms, price, location, comfort, cleanliness and as silly as it seems…a tub. After long days of walking, trust me it is nice. I read all the reviews and everything seems to be very accurate. The staff was always helpful and nice, the décor is modern but inviting, the location is GREAT. Being right on Grand Via and central to everything was much better than being way out on the beach. The neighborhood is very safe, but really, we didn’t feel unsafe anywhere in Barcelona even very late at night. The buffet was included in our room price which we booked as a special and I would encourage you to check the web site for these deals. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and had many more choices than the average European breakfast buffet. We were in the Urban room on the courtyard side, which was fairly quiet, comfortable and spacious. The beds are two double put together but feels like a queen. The tub was deep and had a shower massage. I think it was meant more for bathing than showering because the glass comes half way across, but it is no big deal to throw a towel on the floor. The blinds close with a button for extra privacy if you want it, and the toilet is separate with a door. I want to also give the cleaning staff many kudos for their honesty. One day we left the safe open with our passports and cash inside and all was well upon return. Another day, we put the do not disturb light on (but I guess they did not see it, or they clean your room anyway) and left all our purchases on the bed before leaving for the day. When we returned, the items were neatly arranged on a made up bed and everything was accounted for. The pool looked nice, but we did not use it so I cant comment on that. The metro station is very close, and easy to navigate to anywhere you want to go. Just go down any station and purchase a T-10 ticket, which you or anyone can use 10 times. Also, the areobus to the airport is only about 1 block away so getting back to the airport for 5 Euro is easy and cheaper than a taxi (it runs every 10 minutes). However just know that if you are flying back to the US you will probably be at terminal 1 and not terminal 2 where it drops everyone off. We finally figured out that once the areobus drops you off you have to catch the green bus (free of charge) to terminal 1, which looks like they come by often. Get to the airport early if you want to hand in your receipts for the 14% money back, because the line is usually long and there is not much instruction on how to accomplish the task. We were running late for our flight so we did not do it. We consider the 14% a donation to the Catalon people who were all wonderful. One more tip, if you like to eat you HAVE to go to the restaurant “Me”, a catalon/Vietnamese/new Orleans fusion restaurant that was just amazing. Have the front desk make reservations for you, as you will need them. We ate at a lot of places and have to say this was the highlight of the trip! As far as attractions go, if I had to pick two things to do in Barcelona, my must do would be Sagrada Familia and Monserrat. Fantastic! We had a great experience with Spanishtrails tours, I highly reccommend them if you want to treat yourself to a well done, well priced day trips.

I stayed here for 4 nights with my boyfriend and have nothing bad to say about the hotel.

The room was spotless, you could hear no road noise, despite being on the main road. The hotel itself is very stylish yet good value.

The bathroom has a glass wall, which can be left transparent or not...(the toilet is separate) which I thought was quite a fun detail.

Breakfast was nice- lots of choice, and the added bonus of sitting outside or in.

The rooftop was nice enough, we only used it once. The pool is very small, but large enough for a cool-down dip.

Overall I really enjoyed the hotel. The location was great, about 10 minutes from the top of the Ramblas and walking distance to nearly everything. The bus from the airport takes about 15 minutes and drops you across the road.

My two week city vacation was great, made even better, after long days of walking and seeing the sites, coming home to a hotel that was comfortable, clean & centrally located. At which time, if there were any questions of where to eat or what to do, train schedules, types of food, the front desk staff were incredable in their knowledge. On the couple of 'off of schedule' days, the rooftop pool deck was a quiet sanctuary. Centrally located on the Gran Via, a 1 minute walk from urgell, a 7 minute walk to universitat, and a 15 minute walk to placa catalunya, everything was at hand...barri gotic, la rambla, the eixample, the diagonal etc etc...and within easy reach on the metro system was the port, and mount tibidabo and montjuic....and the sexy 'hot' button for lighting in the room was a fun bonus...;-)

Room Tip: I stayed in a courtyard room, the view of the back courtyard, was great..the backs of apartment bloc...

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon and therefore decided to spend a little more and book a 'terrace room'. This was quite big, with a large bed and a good size balcony overlooking a small park at the back.
We also opted for the daily breakfast, which we thought was very nice as there was a large selection of different food to choose from. Curteous staff who always made sure everything was well stocked and replenished.
The staff at the front desk were also very helpful, identifying places to see on a map and giving us good directions on how to get everywhere. We were also given some excellent recommendations for restaurants in the area.
The location of the hotel was ideal for us. Even though the metro station was pretty much just outside the front door, we generally walked everywhere from the hotel.

Overall a very enjoyable visit and we would certainly stay here again, if we ever come back to Barcelona.

Room Tip: Our room on the top floor was a little noisy for a few minutes at 8a.m. due to the pool on the roof...

The Staff were awesome, and gave us great tips on where to eat, and the sites to visit. Thanks Daniela and guys at Soho Hotel for a fabulous week in Barcelona. It was our first time vacationing in Europe. And our hotel being so close to the Metro (Urgell) didn't hurt either. We were just a couple of stops from Catalunya.
