“Great place, gracious hosts, and fantastic location”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

We opted for this quaint boutique hotel filled with the owner Abel's prized collections of antiques. The place was well-maintained. Danny helped us check in with state of the art fingerprint reader that we didn't even have to carry the key for the building. One day, Abel offered to take us to an antique flea market. We went in his fantastic red and white 1955 Ford Fairlane learning more about Barcelona and his life in this fantastic city! The location of this hotel is so awesome. It's two blocks away from the Plaza Catalunya and the subway (in construction) station is a block or two away. Danny recommended incredible Ciudad Condal (Ciutat Comtal in Catalan) for tapas. Abel recommended the best paella seafood place called 7 Portes... He said this is where he would go if he is having paella. Incredible hosts and fantastic location.

Room Tip: Incredible location, great hotel staff, and awesome experience.

Unusual and friendly hotel with ornate decor and very friendly hosts. Our room opened onto a terrace with pot plants and birds. Breakfast served in one of the reception rooms amongst ornate furniture and wonderful gaudy ornaments - in very Bohemian style/character. The hotel is unique and highly recommended. We had a wonderful stay, and it is also centrally located and very easy to find using public transport. In short excellent.

Well what can I say, Elton John meets Liberace meets Versace! What a delight this little hotel is. FULL of splendour and interesting artefacts but best of all hosted by Danny, who could not do enough for you. My room, which was 106 was facing the terrace which had lush green plants, antique bird cages with little chirpy birds and a water feature which was wonderfully relaxing of an evening whilst relaxing on my bed or sitting out enjoying a glass of wine. The breakfast was a delight, ALL beautiful antique cutlery, plates and tea sets GORGEOUS! It was like having breakfast at the Ritz. Very good value for money and would highly recommend a stay here. Very clean and enjoyable.

Room Tip: choose a balcony room or a room facing the terrace.

We visited Barcelona in the fall to capture some holiday season. This hotel was in the center of the city which made it easy to walk to just about all sites. Breakfast on the terrace was a wonderful way to start our day. Abel and Danny were so helpful with everything. Finding a great place to eat, how to get to the sites and even driving us around in his 1955 Chevy. What a blast. All the antiques were beautiful. We were very comfortable and recommend the Hostal L'Antic Espai for anyone who wants a very romantic place to stay.. Keep up the good work Abel.

Liz,Lauren and Jeff

Room Tip: A room on the terrace is a most.

This hotel is not your standard chain hotel...and thank goodness! It is an old, well taken care of, building in the heart of the city...close to so many attractions and great food! Danny and Abel took such good care of us, showing us places to go, giving great directions, etc. They offer a morning breakfast which is great for your first day here until you get the lay of the land. Also helpful, ask them to make arrangements for someone to pick you up at the airport. For 50 Euro, it is so well worth not having to deal with the bus or a taxi.

The hotel itself is old and fascinating with all kinds of neat treasures to look at. They also have guide books laying around that you can borrow. Even though it's old, the hotel is really clean and well maintained. Definitely worth the price compared to other big hotels that are way more expensive than they need to be.

Room Tip: Ask for them to pick you up at the airport! Well worth 50 Euros

we stayed in this hotel after reading the comments here, and it couldnt be better, the location is great, we could walk almost everywhere, in the center of the city,
rooms with a special atmospher, antic furnture, modern bathroom with hairdrier, clean, our room had an access to the terrace, which is fantastic, plants, birds and a small fountain, nothing better to start your day having an excelente breakfast in this terrace.
internet is free, and there is a pc in the reception for the use of the clients, conceted with a printer, and also there was a small labtop if you want to take it to your room, dvds with a dvd driver in each room, there were lots of movies.
the guys there are so helpfull, they helpled us buying the entrance to sagrada familia, and other things, orgnizing your day, where to go, what to see, and where to eat, it was like having a personal guide in Barcelona.
I have read some bad comments talking about this hotel, I cant understand it, I didnt see anything of what they said.
thanks guys to make our stay that lovely, see you in our next trip to Barcelona

Beautiful hotel, excellent service, great location and price. It is located close to the city center, with plenty of possibilities within walking distance. The hotel personnel was very friendly and offered excellent service and advice on city’s attractions. The hotel cleanliness is impeccable and breakfast buffet was complete. I highly recommend this hotel.
