Having just checked out I am still seated in the lovely bar of this seriously good hotel, having a coffee
Firstly the location is great, one minutes walk from the top of la ramblas, and a one minute walk to each of two metro stations.
I chose this hotel for the last four nights, of a @30 day trip, a bit of final luxury, and it is that, the premises is of seven floors, 5 up , and two down, and runs the depth of the block, the ground floor, public areas, are many, spacious, nearly new, and very tasteful.
The rooms are generous in size, very good amenities, and a great, big, bathroom, with double shower, full size tub, and the usualls
But possibly the best thing, is the spa, suite on level -2, it is free, for guests, staffed, with towels lockers etc, and comprises, a large spa, with reclined(3) or seated (4) jets, a free swim area, a large over spa water massage jet, and flat water jet, also a lounge area, water leg massage area, sauna, steam room, cyclonic shower, and others. It's brilliant to wind down after a long day walking, working or anything.
Also, extra's pricing, where usually applicable, eg bar, room service meals, etc are priced very attractively, eg cheap
All in all, a great place, and possibly the second best I have ever stayed at. Easily 4 star, no complaints

I stayed one night in Barcelona before boarding a cruise ship in the bay. This hotel was my stop over. I arrived to Spain at 6 am and they held my bags until check in while I explored the area. The staff spoke several different languages and were very friendly. The location is close to the beach, transportation to major attractions, and great food and shops. The room in this hotel was beautiful. It was modern, but different than any hotel I have ever been in. The spa is included which was peaceful. There is free wifi. Overall, if you are going to Barcelona, this is a suburb hotel choice.

A well put together establishment in a superb location (near the mayhem, not ON TOP of the mayhem) with a small spa below (inclusive) and a pool on the roof.
tip: get early to that pool; in the Summer that pool is swarming - and I mean Spanish beach, pre melt down swarming - which means you literally cant lay on the floor let alone a lounger because every conceivable cm of space on that roof is taken up with a prostrate body. weird and not very edifying.

check in and out took an age: not enough staff on duty. why is this so often the case with hotel? banks have solved it, even airlines have automated checkin (saves them millions too) so why are hotels still so old school in this regard? Personal service one presumes, but a super long wait almost missing your train in the process and things can get pretty personal in the wrong direction....

overall: its worth $140 pn not the almost $200 I paid.

For us this is an ideal place because it is near plaza Catalunia. From the airport, you take the AeroBus to Barcelona (5.90 Euros 1 way) and ends in Plaza Catalunia. Hotel is a 3-5 min walk. It is also near the Casa Batllo - about 15 minute walk north of plaza catalonia.
We took the City Tourist Bus - a hop on hop off bus since we did not have the energy to figure out the public transportation.
It is surrounded by very good spanish restaurants. Tapas and "Hamon".
Staff are friendly, very helpful from the front desk, concierge, restaurant (breakfast). THe breakfast was 12 EUR (promo if ordered 1 day advance). A buffet of fresh fruits and salad, bread, croissants, donuts, baguette, etc. with typical spanish sausages, and you can order eggs (scrambled, sunny side..etc).
Beds are so comfortable - just the right firmness and comfort. Slept like a baby. I was also surprise that there was not much noise considering it is in a central location.
Spa was normal and you are provided with bathrobe and sleepers.
Room and bathroom - clean and spotless.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.
