“Excellent boutique hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2009

Excellent boutique hotel, intimate, very clean and the servise is realy warm.
Brekfast large (more than continental) and 17-19 was coffee time and croissant.
We recieved room number 48 with a street view. not all the rooms got view, you should check before. our room was comfertable and modern with shower.
The hotel located between Catalonia plaza to Espania plaza, 20 min walk form the center but 3 min next to metro/ bus station.
I recommened this hotel for those who looking for quiet, small and romantic hotel.

Me and my wife just came back from Barcelona where we've stayed at the Hotel Villa Emilia in L'Eixample. Villa Emilia has been proven to be a real gem!
Located only 20 metres from Rocafort Metro station and 15 minutes walk from either Placa d'Espana and Placa Catalunya - The hotel is situated just in the right place.

The staff was extremely hospitable and was eager to help. They were genuinely nice people who enjoyed associating with guests and helping them with every issue.

The room was very clean and designed according to latest trends. There's free WIFI around the premises and complimentary afternoon coffee and pastry - exactly when you crave for them. ;-)

It's a winner folks!

Go there, you will not be disappointed. Staff is helpful, design hotel, good size rooms, clean. If the hotel would have been located in Barceloneta, it would have been the perfect place! Good hotel choice with a roof terrace.

My husband and I stayed in the Villa Emilia for a weekend break over Easter 2009. The hotel has a good location very close to a Metro station and it takes only a few minutes to reach the very centre of the city by train. It is also an easy 10 minute walk into the centre, Placa de Catalunya, La Rambla etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay in this hotel. It has a lot of plus points: the staff are friendly, the rooms are modern, clean and tidy, there is a good breakfast buffet (€13) with a nice range of food (plus Cava if you fancy it!) and a small but attractive roof terrace. Overall it is clear that a lot of thought and effort has gone into making the hotel a smart, attractive and welcoming place to stay.
Attention to some little details could make this hotel excellent: the shower temperature fluctuates between warm and scalding hot, which is disconcerting and could be dangerous. Having read other reviews it seems this is a problem throughout the hotel. Also the sink in our room was slightly blocked and took a long time to drain. We ordered room service of two cheese sandwiches and tea, which was nice although somewhat over-priced at €18! The food in Barcelona is variable: we had some great, inexpensive tapas in Cerveceria Catalana but would advise others to watch out for over-priced, disappointing food in other places, particularly around La Rambla itself which we found to be rather tacky and best avoided. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others - if they get the showers fixed!

Really liked this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very tastefully decorated, boutique style public areas and rooms. Nice bar - with good cocktails, well stocked bar, good bar service and nice snacks. Pleasant roof top terrace with bar service (from downstairs). My only complaint is that the showers in either of our rooms were either burning hot or freezing cold. It seemed to be a pressure problem which I suspect affects the entire hotel. I like a good shower to relax so this was a bit disappointing. Hopefully the hotel will fix this, as I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the VE in Barcelona for five nights in March 2009. The location is excellent (two blocks from a metro station) and, being away from the main tourist areas, one feels more part of a neighborhood. Still, it's an easy walk to Placa Espanya and the Palau Nacional with its Museum of Catalonian Art. It's more challenging but walkable to get to Las Ramblas but the metro is so convenient that being a little apart just means that one can see more of he city.
The VE staff are very friendly and helpful (speak Spanish, Catalan, English and probably others...), the rooms are clean and quite modern and free internet access is provided in a mezzanine area. The hotel restaurant is decent. There are a few other restaurants in the area, notably La Scarpetta for Italian.
We made a point every morning of walking about six blocks east on the Gran Via to have breakfast at Escriba', an excellent bakery and high-end chocolatier with incredible pastries and desserts.
Our stay at the hotel made the trip a great success. I would definitely stay there again and recommend to anyone.

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend for our wedding anniversary.

We'd been to Barcelona 4 yeasr before so we already had a list of places we wanted to cover.

I can only repeat what many people have said about this hotel.

The good points:

Wonderfully clean, contemporary designed rooms.
Very friendly staff htroughout the hotel.
Free tea/coffee and croissants on the first floor from 5-7 pm.
Piano-player every Fri/Sat/Sun evening in the Zinc bar.
An excellent roof terrace (bar wasn't open when we were there but drinks could be taken up).
Great location (right next to metro).
Free Access to internet.

The bad points:

Zinc bar- we dined here once and found it oevrpriced, a cheeseboard for 20 euros!!!.

We would definitely return to this lovely hotel.
