“Affordable hotel in great location.”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

Stayed here in September 2013 and had a very good experience overall. The hotel is in a great location, central to a lot of things in Barcelona, easy to get to from the train/Metra, and a short walk to Plaza de Catalunya & La Rambla. The quality of the hotel was decent, with a basic/trendy-ish lobby and style throughout the hotel. Rooms are spacious and affordable, although the bed was basically two twin beds pushed together (which weren't too comfortable & kept sliding apart). Wifi is available in rooms and there's also a laptop included in the rooms to use the internet, although the internet connection on both seemed pretty slow during our stay. One thing that was pretty annoying is there was a slight gap in the bathroom door when closed, which obviously limits your privacy when you want to use the bathroom. Service was top notch...the staff was very accommodating to our questions about the city and even surprised us with a bottle of champagne & chocolates in our room given it was my birthday. For the price point and location, this is a great pick.

I booked a weekend away through jet2 holidays. I was expecting more than I got.
The room I received (212) was nothing like what jet2 advertised. Our room only had a small window too high to look out of, and when you climbed up to look, it was only onto a small shaft like space. (no balcony or terrace)
There was no iron or ironing board in the room, and the tv was no more than 28inch, and there was no hydro massage shower!

That said, I booked this hotel for its location and as somewhere to sleep. The room was clean, and we did not here any noise from other rooms, and the air con worked well.

On arrival the reception staff were friendly and although we didn't ask for any help, I did see them helping other guests find thing to do.

If you're not the very touristy type traveler this hotel is PERFECT!

It's located just a few short blocks away from Ramblas, which is akin to 42nd Street in NYC. Yes you should see it, but not eat there or stay there as everything is jacked up in price and lowered in quality. :/ Also, very near the metro and all the Gaudi sights!

The Petit Prince room we had was high up and had a darling little balcony with two french doors so we could go out and check the weather each morning and soak up the fantastic view. The hotel is modern, chic and clean. I'd say minimalist though. Beware of the unusually dark hallways. I suppose this was to set an ambiance but really just made it hard to use the hotel card key at 3am. Petit Prince- invest in some lights.

The rooms are fairly sized (for European rooms) and had large chest closets so we could actually unpack, which I appreciate on a two week vacation. There is a breakfast downstairs but overpriced in my opinion with so many amazing little cafe just around the corner. Flauta and cafe solo shouldn't be consumed in a basement restaurant.

I did appreciate the wi-fi in each room but more than once had ot go downstairs to get the new password which was minimally inconvenient. Would've liked to have had a drink at the lobby bar before heading out as it looked very inviting, but there was never a bartender to be seen :(

Overall, the hotel was really great though. Fantastic location. We'll be back for sure!

Lack of staff, not friendly nor profesional, dirty rooms (carpet and other room furniture should have been changed several years ago, they are dirty and old), rests of previous guests in the room (stains in curtains, hair in the bathroom). It must have been a 4 stars when it started but now it is completely abandoned, I would not give it even 3. The only positive thing I can say is that the location is really good.

I have to say that the average hotel quality in Barcelona is very very low and finding a good value for money place can be a challenge.
Petit palace is no exception to this.
Positive things are its superb location, very central and at walking distance to a lot of main attractions. In the room you can find the necessaire for your staying (like toothbrush, slippers, sawing kit), which is something that I definitely appreciate.
But that´s it, because rooms themselves are kind of shabby and bad smelling, and breakfast is poor.
I would not recommend it.

Lets start with the good. The hotel has a great central location and offers family rooms making travel with a family much easier and provided a reasonable breakfast in the room rate. The reception staff were also friendly and helpful.

The bad

Our room was fitted with disabled access in the bathroom which is good, except that shower unit was then positioned above it meaning you would need to be about 7 foot tall to use it properly. For example the shelf for soap was about 6 foot off the ground and built in shower jets started around shoulder height. It was just a bit ill thought out and irritating.

The Ugly

This hotel seriously needs a refit. The carpets were stained, decor out of date and walls looked damp in places.

In summary if you just want a central location at a reasonable price and don't mind staying in a hotel that is not up to 4 star standards and is a bit shabby this is fine, but don't expect luxury...

Room Tip: room 305 looks like it has seen better days and has a shower suitable for giants.

The hotel is near to the most attraction places in Barcelona, nice cafes for breakfast too, the room is very well decorated with very nice furniture, we took a quadruple room and it was comfortable with good space, bathroom is very clean.
