When we arrived at the H10 Art Gallery we were greeted by builders painting the entrance more were inside running around with paint and power tools doing things that builders do.
I knew that staying in a brand new hotel could be a triumph or a disaster. I think the reason the H10 Art Gallery opened too early was that they hoped to attract guests attending the Barcelona Grand Prix and greed rather than good sense took over.
We discovered, only one working lift, lighting in some public areas not working, no air conditioning until Friday and then it only worked when our balcony door was opened as the relay had been fitted the wrong way round!
No in-room information, safe not working to begin with, loose mains wiring in the bathroom, no fire signs and no visible fire escapes as the stairs were full of building equipment.
Two floors and the roof terrace not finished – it was like a scene out of Carry on Abroad – a 21st century ‘Elle’s Belle’s’ experience.
BUT the hotel will be pretty stunning when it is finished; the location is brilliant right beside Diagonal TMB and Provença train station. The public areas will be funky and urban and I am sure the rooftop bar and plunge pool will be great (when they start building them)
I liked the staff once they started to engage with us, to begin with they were all running around trying to sort the problems out, ignoring the guests. So I would consider staying again at The Art Gallery – I have another H10 hotel booked here in London in July, I do hope that they have finished building that one!
