First of all Hesperia Fira suites is not a real aparthotel. It is a sidekick of the neighbouring Hesperia Tower hotel. This tall hotel is somehow rated *****, which does not extend to the Fira suites side. Approaching the aparthotel was strange since it is not located in a building of its own but on a backside of a big electronics store. The aparthotel has no reception, you have to go to the Tower side for that. Unloading the luggage was awkward, as there is no parking whatsoever on the Suites side.

The room was a curious combination of expensive materials (stone floors, high tech shower) ruined by shockingly inferior craftmanship. It seemed that the apartments had been quickly and cheaply renovated in a building not originally intended for this use. Balcony door handle was ready to fall off and it seemed like it had already done so a couple of times. Wallpapers were awry, seams and moisture control in the bathroom inadequate. It was strange to live on 2nd floor, on a roof of a shop, surrounded by concrete and asphalt. Balcony opened to a zebra crossing in a busy city street. We closed the curtains and tried to forget what was on the outside.

TV remote did not work and the picture was poor. WC/bahroom door had no lock. Shower only gave uncomfortably hot water unless you turned the flow to maximum so that the stream was stinging your skin. We had booked apartment for 4 persons, but kitchen had only 3 of everything: plates, forks, knives... The reception tried to help and the 2 stars are for them. When I needed to print my boarding passes, they showed me a computer and printer to do this.

The "shuttle" only drives 8 times a day and its schedule did not suit us too well. Airport taxi was 22 €.The biggest disappointment was the lack of a pool: misinterpreting the flattering images on booking.com we had expected a pool to be somewhere outside an apartment complex, but there was none. The hotel tower pool cost 14 € per person per day. Can you imagine an aparthotel with a pool charge?!

The information at booking.com concerning this hotel is misleading. The hotel does not answer to emails, which led to disappointments in the planning of our program. The location is ok, metro station 200 m away. For a short stay we managed, but a week in this kind of place would be unbearable. I strongly suggest you to go elsewhere, there must be plenty of real aparthotels around Barcelona!

Room Tip: Try another hotel.

PROS:

- Nicely decorated rooms. I see that other guests have mentioned the decor is a bit dark, but I wasn't bothered.
- Close to a metro station
- Close to the airport with free shuttle service, and connected to the train station via metro (though we found that hauling our luggage through the metros stairs was much more work than we'd planned for)
- Bus service to the city centre. We never took them up on this, since we found that the metro suited our needs just fine, but it's nice that they had the service there.
- Very nice staff. The staff was very courteous whenever we called or went to the desk, and did offer to help us with our luggage since it's a small walk from the hotel tower to the suites.
- Aside from what's mentioned under "cons," the rooms were clean.

CONS:

- LOCATION. It's far-removed everything that we wanted to see and do. Should you stay here, be sure to buy a T10 ticket at the metro, as it is a pretty good deal and you will be using the metro a LOT. We booked the hotel knowing that it was a little far removed from the city centre, but I guess we just didn't realize how far. Having the metro station close to the hotel helps, but we found the location overall to be a great inconvenience.
- In terms of cleanliness, there were stains on the sofa and the drain area of the shower was nasty to look at. Didn't ruin the hotel experience, but still not pleasant.

Stayed here for a family holiday to Barcelona. The suites are self catering type apartments (but with daily cleaners etc) located adjacent to the Hesperia tower hotel about twenty minutes away from central Barcelona.

Pluses:
- 15 minutes from the airport, with a free shuttle provided to and from the hotel. Travelling with a baby, they also provided a car seat for the shuttle.
- Extremely clean rooms, well decorated as you'd expect, comfortable firm bed, mini kitchen area with fridge, hob and microwave as well as a dining table. Also had a safe and possibly the most invigorating shower i have ever experienced.
- 5 minutes walk to the metro stop (hospital bellvitge at the very end of the red line L1), which is approximately 15 minutes to central Barcelona (stop Espanya).
- It was my birthday whilst i was out there and they left me a cake and candles in my room, a wonderful surprise for when i got back!

Negative:
- Very little to see, do or eat near the hotel, without travelling into Barcelona on the metro.

Overall a great place to stay, would stay here again for sure. Highly recommended.

We stayed 3 nights in transit back to Florida following a transatlantic cruise and were not disappointed. The suites were modern, large, attractive and had every convenience for a short or long term stay. As others have mentioned, the hotels shuttle service to the center coupled with a metro station just 100 meters away made getting to and from the touristic attractions inexpensive and simple.

We would definitely stay here again when we return to Barcelona.

Room Tip: The actual hotel probably offers nicer rooms, but the suites have more space and amenities so choose...

Pros;
Stayed in 1 bdrm suite. Very comfortable modern lodging and location for Barcelona visit. Hotel staff were all great; service oriented, friendly, with good English. Away from city. Quiet. Pvt terrace large & secluded (Room 314). Metro station across street, easy ride to city center via Metro day or multi-day pass. 1 bdrm Fira Suites very comfortable. Kitchen counter area small but good for coffee, tea, cont bkfst, & sandwiches. Fridge good for cold drinks. Grocery, bank, local bar/rest/coffee/pastries only 3-5 min walk. BBC/CNN TV. WiFi strong & free. Gratis in-room safe. Iron & large board. Security and area safe. Food in hotel bar very good; but very pricey. Minutes from airport via taxi or Metro. Hotel offers free shuttle service to airport. Parking available at 18 Euro/day; but do not need rental car to see city. Fira Suites is next to Hespira Towers Hotel where rest/bar/pkg and reception are located. Did not find this inconvenient at all. On return to Barcelona will stay at Fira Suites again.

Cons;
Hotel food very expensive. Pizza, burger and 3 cokes in bar was almost 50 Euros. Expected higher costs for this grade hotel, but is close to rape & pillage pricing. Parking at 18 Euro/day high.

Room Tip: Room 314 had great private terrace. Large and comfortably furnished.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Hesperia Fira Suites and we would definitely return. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The people at the front desk were extremely helpful. Our price $85/night also included breakfast in the main hotel and the food was unbelievable! There are 2 subway stations both about a 5 minute walk in each direction of the hotel, which was really convenient. There is also a grocery store and casual restaurant "La Flama" about 5 minutes away. We had rented a car and were able to park it FREE OF CHARGE in the gym parking lot that's owned by the hotel. You can also park underground for a fee. They have a shuttle to the airport, which worked out for us!

Because this hotel was a little out of the way we were a bit unsure but we were pleasantly surprised! We booked the a room for 2 people for 3 nights and ended up with a relatively large 2 bedroom unit with a balcony. Everything inside is new, tidy and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Metro stop is only 1 minute walk away making it super easy and quick to get into the heart of things. Hotel also offers a free shuttle to and from the airport. Definitely recommend staying here!
