The hotel couldn't be in a better place in Barcelona: Right where all the bars, restaurants and shops are, many sights are in walking distance and there is a metro station close-by. Also easy to reach from the airport (take the aerobus to Placa Catalunia, it's a 10 min walk from there).
On the downside, our room was tiny, the mattresses hard, our double-bed turned out to be two separate beds that would drift apart on any wrong move, and the only window the room had was to the dark inner floor - i.e. no glimpse of daylight. We resorted to checking the current weather conditions on the internet before we left our room.
The hotel looks newly renovated at first glance, but if you have a closer look e.g. in the bathroom corners, it's clearly not that new...
In two nights, it was quite loud - we woke up in the middle of the night when some jerks came back and continued party in the hotel lobby and in the hotel's hallways. That's not the hotel's fault directly - but the 24/7 receptionist didn't do anything about it either.

We did not have breakfast (16 EUR p.P.), since there are many coffee shops nearby that offered great breakfast.

All in all an okay stay, but not the best value for the money.

Dear customers,

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that the hotel's location has seemed ideal. The Hotel has just renewed all their mattresses, we regret that during your stay you have found the mattress a bit hard.
We look forward to seeing you back at the hotel and have improved those aspects that you found negative.

Thanks again and kind regards

we stayed here for 3 nights in barcelona. the hotel has a great location ~ 5 mins from 2 different metro stops (liceu and jaume) and 5 minute walk from las ramblas. we had a nice room that even had a little private patio. the bed was a little bit on the hard side but since i spent minimal time in the hotel this wasn't all that big of a deal. the hotel staff were super friendly and helpful. overall i had a very positive experience here.

Dear customers,

We are very happy that you liked the hotel. We recently purchased new mattresses for all rooms and certainly at first they can feel a little hard.
Thank you for taking some of your time to submit your experience.

Kind regards

My husband and I booked this hotel for a 2 night stay recently because of what I read on tripadvisor. It was affordable In an expensive area, so I thought I would give it a try. Big mistake. You know that funky sewer smell you get sometimes when walking on city streets? This is what our room smelled like. It was disgusting. I have NEVER gone down to a from desk to complain about a room before. But at 11:00 at night when we came back from dinner and it smelled like a sewer, I went down to the front desk to tell them and see if they could give us another room. There was no other room avail, but we were told to pour water down the drain, it would help it. We did that, we also put a wet towel over the shower drain and closed the sink drain. But this did not help the smell. It also smelled like it was coming out of the air conditioner. So we went to sleep, and when I woke up at 7am because I couldn't stand sleeping in the filth anymore, I went down to the front desk. I asked for another room for the next night, and was told repeatedly that they would tell housekeeping. What??? How is housekeeping going to help me? when what I asked for was a new room for the next night that didn't smell like sewage. So on top of a sleepless night in a smelly room, the front desk does not listen. I repeatedly asked for a new room, and finally the front desk guy relented and gave me a new room. He also told me that the whole hotel has this problem, and so does the whole neighborhood. Nice. Do not stay here. Please read the bad reviews, we are not exaggerating or making any of this up. Also check out these nice pictures of our moldy bathroom grout in the "new" room. This hotel does not keep up with their maintenance. Period.

Room Tip: Do not sleep in 211, there is something wrong with the AC, the air coming out of it smells like sewa...

Dear customers,
We deeply regret the inconvenience. Sometimes there are bad smells that come from the outside, we are studying a system to neutralize them. I apologize for not being more flexible in offering an alternative, as the hotel was full we could not provide a change room the first night, but certainly the next morning at the front desk should have offered a change of room immediately.
Your feedback will help us undoubtedly improve our service. We trust that if you returned to stay at another time you could perceive these improvements.
Sorry again to not cover your expectations.

Kind regards

We look at hotels before we book and were not disappointed with what we chose. Hotel is situated in a great location and not far from La Ramblas. Plenty of bars and restaurants and an abundance of shops. We had breakfast once which was great, but there are plenty of bars offering breakfast and other treats. Staff were very friendly and most helpful when we arrived. rooms were spotless and cleaned everyday.

Room Tip: Try not to get a room on the side of the hotel, it gets a bit noisy late at night and early hours.

For my wife and me It was a very excellent experience. Hotel is located close to Catedral and it's easy to reach all the interesting sites of Barcelona by walking or metro. the staff is friendly, smiling, helpful in solving various reservations for museums, tours and tips. Particular not secondary is that they speak Italian. In particular we would like to greet Xavi and David for their courtesy. The breackfast isn't so cheap if you don't stay for more days but it's on a good level. A remark has to be made on the room cabinet: simply doesn't exist but is substituted by a metallic structure that is not sufficient for a 7 days stay. Apart this the rest was ok. Greetings from Roma

Great value for money, great location (really central), staff are super helpful. Didn't opt for breakfast as so many places to choose from in the city. Lots of bars & restaurants on the same street & 2min walk to La Ramblas. Rooms are spotless. Would come back & recommend in a heartbeat...perfect for a short city break.

I was torn between a four and five star for this hotel and am probably being my usual mean self in only giving 4 stars. There were a lot of positives - (i) it is very reasonably priced; (ii) it is very centrally located just a few minutes from La Rambla and a choice of two Metros and yet felt very safe; (iii) the rooms were clean and comfortable; (iv) the staff were very helpful; (v) the buffet breakfast was very good and provided a great start to the day; (vi) there is an excellent bakery right next door and a supermarket opposite. Okay then why 4 star and not 5 - (i) the rooms were on the small size; (ii) there were no in room tea and coffee facilities (but there was a coffee machine on the ground floor); (iii) the sound proofing was not great and I was awoken on two nights by a person returning to their room late at night; (iv) the room we had was internal with no outside window/light; the second room my daughters had had a external window but there was then noise from the street!!. Overall though we had a great stay; if I was in Barcelona again I would definitely stay here again and would be happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, centrally located, comfortable hotel.

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your comments, no doubt, they will help us to improve our service. We regret that the outside noise will disturb on occasion, we are studying some improvement that can, more effectively, cancel outside noise. We are also pleased that this drawback does not make you hesitate to go back again and stay at our hotel, we are eager to see you again.

thanks again
