Description: Opening its doors in 1836 to begin offering over 150 years of excellence, Restaurant de les 7 Portes is truly the most classic of Barcelona's eating places. Here, you can enjoy the finest Catalan cooking in an intimate setting or in one of the spacious banquet halls, accompanied by Spain's best wines and "cavas" (sparkling wines) from the well-stocked cellar. The restaurant is housed in the Pòrtics d'en Xifré, a building declared a national monument and the first place in Barcelona where running water was installed. In 1942, it became the property of Paco Parellada, founder of one of the foremost dynasties of restaurateurs in all of Catalonia.

A tour guide told us about this place being the best place having the best paellas, they did not disappoint! Mouth watering! Great service, very high end.

Over 150 years old restaurant, still one of the best for clasic food and excellent rice dishes in a beautiful setin, reservations a must.

A friend living in BCN suggested me this place as one of the best where to eat the real local paella. I have to say it was just delicious. If you are looking for something typical and very good, this is the right place!

As many of these reviews mention, 7 Portes may have been good at one point. I am disappointed we wasted a meal here and wouldn't recommend giving it a try. Firstly, the atmosphere is very strange - the lighting is so bright, it's like a doctor's office. It's extremely off-putting. Appetizers were underwhelming, as was the paella. We live in New York City and I don't doubt we could find better authentic Spanish food here. Don't bother.

This is the second time that I’ve been back here. Last time was almost 5 years ago. We ordered 1/2 L of Sangria. Fried calamari rings which was soft on the inside and tasted just right. One portion of Seafood Paella to share between us. It was cooked just right not too salty for my taste and full of seafood flavour. I’ll definitely come back again and recommend my friends to come.
