Description: This property was present and witnessed Barcelona's move from the late nineteenth century. Ca L'Estevet is a part of the rich history of the city as a rallying point of the certain nuclei of Barcelona's society, which had its great moment from the formation and development of the ineffable "gauche divine". The reports of La Vanguardia filled its capacity at noon, and today there are two cultural center of reference, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA) and the "Centre de Cultura Contemporanea de Barcelona" (CCCB), as well as neighboring universities, while at night it still remains one of the most traditional meeting places.

If you want high quality Catalan food this is the place to go. Good sized portions and red wine that is top draw! What this restaurant lacks in decor and layout certainly makes up for in the cuisine it offers. If you visit Barcelona the tip is to get off the main streets and check out the little restaurants the locals are using like this one, you won't regret it.

suggested by the hotel, and glad we listened. Very personable, welcoming, English speaking staff. Nice authentic decor and clean. It's quite a small operation, so you should definitely reserve. Great food, try the cannelloni. It isn't high dinning, but defintely authentic and very good food. Highly recommend!

When you go to a "Catalan cuisine" Restaurant in Barcelona, sometimes you worry that it can be a "flat experience". Ca l'Estevet is not the case. You face a very honest, tradicional and trip into the catalan cuisine that takes a highlander as I am (grown in Pirinees) to his very basic feelings when I was a kid. The way dishes look, smell and taste took me to my childhood. Also the forniture reminds me the tipical restaurant in the country side, very "real", without over-decoration. In summary, back to basics with a remarkably good value-for-money. If you are in the area (near Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Universitat), is a very good choice to visit a good catalan cuisine restaurant without eccentricities.

Fourth generation owned and operated Catalan Restaurant. Our private tour guide recommended this casual restaurant for a 3pm lunch, and it was packed. We were lucky to get a seat. Mostly locals. Food was outstanding. Service was excellent and very friendly. Everyone spoke English. Food was Catalan. The server had been to San Francisco, near where we live, and we got to meet the owner, his wife, and daughter, too, just home from school. Everything is fresh. The owner does the buying himself every early morning. Perhaps our best food experience in Barcellona. We lingered a long time we were enjoying the afternoon here so much.

Came for dinner, family-owned, neighbourhood restaurant, the owners may be new? Spoke good English; very traditional local food, rather too salty for our liking (we had the cod and paella which was so concentrated and salty we could not finish it). Good friendly prompt service. There are much much better options however available in Barcelona.
