On our last night of our short trip to Barcelona, we wanted an authentic Catalan dinner, so on the advice of Trip Advisor, we went here. It was a little hard to find, even with the address given to the taxi driver, but it was a very memorable experience. The place was packed and lively, with mostly Catalan being spoken around us, so we knew we were in for an authentic experience. We were able to communicate with the waiter in passable Spanish, hand gestures and pointing at the menu, so it was not an issue. The rabbit was fabulous!

Recommended by our apartment hosts, with amazing reviews, and within 6 minutes walk - we had to go! We were greeted as promised with a glass and and invitation to sample from the casks, then went through to the dining room. You *have* to have the rabbit (it is so good!) but we also had the Catalan sausage (butifarra). Service was good too and all reasonably priced.

Just back from a short break in Barcelona. We rented an apartment between Poble Sec and Montjüic (quiet working class neighbourhood without hoards of tourists). We found Can Margarit recommended by Marco Polo/Süddeutsche Zeitung just around the corner.
Converted horse stables with wine barrels in high ceiling entrance hall from where to sample wine before sitting down in lovely, warm room with old wooden tables. Charming waiters, authentic catalan food: snails, rabbit, lamb, artichokes, aubergines, peppers... - the opposite of minimalistic approach. Dinner for two (2 courses, 2 1/2 caraffes with excellent house wine) for 50 Euro.

We visited as a large group for a friend's birthday, and had a fantastic evening- the rabbit stew in particular is excellent. When we arrived we were given glasses and told to help ourselves to wine from the casks in the entrance area, then shown through to the main restaurant which had a great atmosphere. Our waiter seemed a little stressed initially by us wanting to order lots of dishes to share but got over it pretty quickly and the food was fab!

You must have the rabbit with thyme! Delicious! The fried squid was the best we had in Barcelona! Service was excellent and the restaurant is such an interesting place to look around. Really very good quality Catalan food and sensible prices.
