“Lovely lunch near the beach!”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

We stopped at Restaurante Peru for lunch on our way to the Beach. We were pleasantly surprised! We were almost expecting a tourist trap, but we were very well welcomed, the food was good and at a decent price.
The host spoke perfectly French, and so did some of the waiter.
I would recommend!

“Really good restaurant”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

We tried this restaurant on an evening: no waiter trying to convince us and it looks good.
We had a nice dorada and some black rice, really good! As the preparation time was a big longer, we received some nice free tapas. The waiters were friendly and attentive. We weren't pushed to finish like in some tourist traps!
We returned a day after in that restaurant, the owner and waiter recognize us: after our really good fish meals, we received some small drinks for free!

“Nice family run restaurant amid tourist traps”
Reviewed 25 February 2014 via mobile

Along the harbor line of Barceloneta you find many restaurants, where I would qualify more than half of them as tourist traps. If the menu is published in 3+ languages, including some non convincing pictures and a waiter tries to convince you to enter, ... Just run !
Restaurante Peru is all different amid these practice. Family run, friendly advice on food and wine. Honoust cooking and very reasonable prices. I even think of paying them another visit during our stay in BCN!

“A Block Away from the water = a little cheaper and just as good”
Reviewed 13 February 2014

We were trying to locate a different restaurant recommended by the tour guide (Can Majo, if you’re interested….see my review) and hit that 12 noon jones for wine and tapas. We saw this place as we were walking down the street, a quick look at the menu (and a growl from the stomach) and we said yes. The menu had the usual tapas fare that you find everywhere. This trip got us hooked on Jamon Iberico, Manchego cheese, and vino tinto/blanco. So we went with the usual tapas plates but also added in some grilled shrimp and some croquettes. The price was quite reasonable and we were able to sit and enjoy the last few drops of our wine without hassle. The place wasn’t really busy. The waitstaff was attentive and everything was delicious. Wouldn’t hesitate to try it if you’re in that neck of the woods.

“Looking for paella for one? Must try. ”
Reviewed 24 December 2013 via mobile

The restaurant is located in Barceloneta so for that reason, you just have to be extra careful with your belongings. The food was fantastic. Great to be able to order paella for one. The black rice was super yummy! I think it is a family business and they were all so nice and helpful!
