Description: Cullera de Boix restaurant in Barcelona near the Plaça Catalunya and in Plaça Urquinaona offers fresh, inspired Catalan cuisine in modern surroundings. On the main floor you’ll find a buzzing bar with light, bright décor and very groovy typeface-inspired design, while the dining room carries on the themes of wooden floors, pale walls, dangling lights in hot Iberian colours, and cool seating. Chef Matarrodona – a graduate of the Jean-Luc Figueres kitchen – is inspired by rice and noodle dishes, offering a menu that changes frequently to reflect the seasons. Consider mushroom risotto with idiazabal cheese, black rice with cuttlefish and prawns or risotto with fish and seafood. Main courses feature both land and sea creatures in inventive presentations and the wine list tempts you with more than 200 bottles to try.

Just off La Rambla is this fantastic restaurant, away from all the hideous, overpriced, photo showing tat.
This restaurant is unassuming yet excellent. The décor is classic and very tasteful. The service is friendly yet professional and nothing is too much trouble for them. It would be suitable for a family meal, friends night out, a romantic meal, or even a business meeting.
The food, well, we had the mixed roasted vegetables and the calamari for sharing as starters and both were very tasty. The mains, we both had duck, and it was very well cooked, with a fantastic taste and sauce with it that made the flavour a bit smokey (in a nice way), came on a bed of soft mash (I think) - but no veg, so if you are a veg person (which I think this dish could have done with - not much just a bean or two) you will need to order veg extra.
The pricing is set at a reasonable rate, I would rather pay for this meal rather than a 10€ dish of tapas. It isn't a rip off place in terms of price.
The desserts are also interesting they have the usual run of the mill desserts with a slight twist. I had Vanilla Ice Cream with Caramel sauce and Oreo, H had Cheesecake with Ginger Ice Cream, if you think "I might like that, not sure", you will.....
All dishes are beautifully presented
The wine accompanying the meal was very nice and not expensive - it was the house, but it was very nice. They do rotate their "wine of the day" suggestions each day. Be aware a bottle of water is 3.65€, which is extortionately expensive and completely against the rest of the pricing structure, however wasn't too bothered by this as the rest of the meal was very good, and they comp'd my coffee......no reason, just because....

I have been to both the location in Ronda Sant Pere, and the one near La Rambla. We found the restaurant only because it was near where we were staying, but what a pleasant surprise! Both locations, we (my husband I) went back to several times during our different stays in Barcelona. We loved the pretty atmosphere and friendly service, but most of all, the amazing food. The calamari with asparagus stood out the most, but the 'patatas bravas' and the 'huevos estrellados' were delicious too. The black rice with calamari was excellent. Good portions too. Overall, great experience.

I love paella but I had one months salt intake in one night. Could not properly identify meat in the paella either. Nice restaurant with helpful staff though, although our reservation was not recorded when we first arrived. Wine good. Complementary desert helped

We were staying near this restaurant and was recommended by the receptionist. There were four of us and we went there twice trying different dishes each time. Every dish was amazing!!! I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Barcelona, even the burger was an experience. A good variety of including paellas and it's and a variety of Catalan and spanish dishes. Not too expensive and worth every single penny

We stayed for 4 nights at the hotel next to this restaurant/bar. The first 3 mornings, we ate outside on the terrace. The waiter was very very kind!!! BUT the last morning, it was someone else who stood behind the bar and this waiter was NOT kind at all. We could not eat outside he said, it was a big problem for him if we should eat outside. So, we ate somewhere else outside on a terrace and so we spent more money for breakfast.

We would never eat there again!
