“An unexpected delight”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

An impromptu decision to try this restaurant was well rewarded. The understated charm and a waiter that took time to talk about history of the restaurant, but was not in the least obtrusive. The food was authentic, tasty and great sizes.

“Horrible Food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

This is a well established place, it has placed Michelin Mentions and various award stickers on its window.
The service was great nothing to complain about...
The decor is reminiscent of perhaps a more Eastern Block European.
We were interested in the menu it looked promising.
Duck with Chestnut casserole and wild asparagus. My fiancée has char and caramelized onions.
The dusk was as dry as over cooked roast beef and the casserole was a tartlette of puff pastry with three chestnuts and the entire thing was drenched in oil and creamy sauce all of which did not go with duck. The asparagus was huge chewy and drenched in oil.
The char was nice but drenched in oil and the onions waaaay over syrupped and caramelized .., which actually went better with my dry duck. Ironically the duck was pink but still impossible to eat....
We drank the wine which was great and left half our meal uneaten. It was over priced and nothing special. There are many great places if u go off the track this was not one. I have to give it one star but it was a minus one

“Truly wonderful in all respects”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

We walked into this restaurant a bit on the early side since we had just travelled from the US and still had jet lag. It was quite empty and we thought we were perhaps taking a chance (read further why it was empty!). The waiter greeted us at the door and asked us to select the table that suited us best. We shared our ideas with them and asked for their recommendations on food choices and wine pairings. What happened next was a great representation of why I love to travel. My daughter's vegetable paella was out of this world... we had one of my favorite Spanish wines ever...my fish dish was perfectly prepared and just perfect.... the entire experience of graciousness and kindness were so authentic and delightful... they are very sensitive to gluten and lactose intolerance and knew exactly what to do.... THEY HAVE THE BEST GLUTEN FREE BREAD I'VE HAD IN 20 YEARS... the owner came out and talked with us about the history of the restaurant and what our interests were, interested in us as people not just as customers. Great people, great restaurant. P.S. We found out that Portugal was playing in a World Cup match (Spain had already been disqualified) and everyone was at a place with a TV!

“Valencia paella!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

It's an old school restaurant with some interesting history of the place it's located. Ask them about the room above and all the clocks! We had a pretty early dinner by Spanish standards so it was not difficult to get a table. We had some grilled squid and the valencia paella and also some white rioja. The service here is great and the paella was really delicious. In the end, they gave us a shot of cervato and said it was Spanish tradition to take it in one shot. Holy hell, that thing is strong. Maybe you should sip on that instead of take it like a shot. (haha)

“Great food and service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2014

I ate here 6 years ago and was keen to visit again. The service was excellent and the food very good. I'm no expert but it felt like a lot of the food was quite authentic Catalan cuisine. The portions were very generous and I felt it was good value for money. We were given a complimentary shot of something very strong at the end of the meal!
